2-1 Hitmen after 40. Once again, Calgary is outclassing the Warriors, outshooting them 22-11 after two.

Update: 3-2 Hitmen with 10 minutes left in the third.

3:30 left, same score.

Nixon takes a bad penalty with 2:45 to go... oy.

Galliardi scores into the empty net! 4-2 Hitmen! The Warriors PBP guy is about to cry...

Aaaand the series is over. Hitmen win 4-2, and go 6-0 against the Warriors in Moose Jaw this year.

Lethbridge has also eliminated Brandon tonight, so the East second round matchups are set:

Calgary vs. Swift Current - I have a feeling this is going to be a 2-3-1-1 series setup because of the Junos.

Lethbridge vs. Kootenay - should be a good one. Go Ice!

In the east, all that is left is game 7 between the Thunderbirds and the Rockets.

Second round matchups will be:

Tri-City vs. Seattle/Kelowna

Spokane vs. Vancouver - the Giants actually lose home ice as teams are seeded straight by points in the 2nd round.

Go Ice indeed! They had a rough time with Lethbridge this year, but I'd take playing the Canes instead of the Hitmen any day of the week..

The Giants/Chiefs series is going 2-3-2 for some reason... It's no less of a trip than Seattle-Kelowna. At least this way ol' Ronny Toigo gets a Friday and a Saturday home date instead of Tues/Wed.

Go Canes Go!!!

History's on our side. Lat time we made it past the first round, we got to the Mem Cup. There's no stopping us now!!

Canes/Ice should be a really good series. I can see it going the max 7.

Due to the Juno Awards, the Hitmen/Broncos series will go 2-3-1-1, with the first two games in Swift Current, per whl.ca..

dionfan, should be a beauty, wish I could make it up there for a game or 2!

I hope so. Swift Current doesn't scare me much, but Lethbridge does. I would much rather face Kootenay, assuming we do make the third round, or at the very least, a tired Lethbridge team.

According to another site, the Hitmen-Speedy Creek series will be shown on Shaw.

Ah, the better series would be the Canes and Ice. That is going to be some series but the big market talks again.

I don't think that the Broncos should be underestimated as they have some talent on that club. With that said I'd still take the Hitmen in five or six.

Ice-Canes is a saw off. Two very good teams there. I can see the Ice taking it in six or seven close games but that Canes team has some excellent players. Hard to predict that series.

Every team in the Eastern playoffs has talent. No easy marks like we saw in the West. I like the Broncos, but the Hitmen are just too deep, and Swift doesn't have a Perricone in net to stymie us.

Ice-Hurricanes would be a fun series to watch too, but we all know that Shaw is going to ride the Hitmen and Giants as far as they go.

This 2-3-1-1 is a very good format for the Hitmen. Take one game on the road to start and they can end it Calgary in 5. I think this the most likely scenario. The Hitmen 'tending worries me a little bit, I just don't believe in Spence a whole lot. He works hard, but I just don't think he's good enough. Hope I get proven wrong.

Spence has concerned me in the past as well, but honestly, when you look at the numbers, he has been one of the better goalies in the league.

There aren't many netminders left playing that I would rank all that far ahead of him.

It helps that the Hitmen routinely outshoot their opposition 2-1 though.

T.J. Galiardi was named WHL player of the week with his 10 points in four games! http://www.whl.ca/potw/?id=9187

I was hoping the first 2 of the Speedy Creek series would be held in the old Corral.

Definately do not underestimate the Broncos. They won 19 of 26 down the stretch (or something like that) and have a VERY balanced scoring attack. Plus, Yonkman was more than solid against the Pats - his robbing of Eberle in Game 4 in OT turned that series around.

Solid win by the Broncos tonight.. Fell behind early, but battled back and used their speed up front to their advantage.

Kootenay came back to beat Lethbridge 3-2 as well.

Hitmen made a critical mistake: Thought the game was over 2-0, and relaxed. Any team that deserves to be in the final eight will run right over you if you take your foot off the gas.

Swift Current deserved this one.
