Seattle wins...Sexton with a HR in the bottom of the 9th.
Blue Jays only down by 4.5 games. Good weekend for the Jays all around.

Agreed....been interesting to watch this club fight and scratch its way to stay close with Boston and NY.
Of course everybodys favorite wet towel has a different take on things.

You get a feeling Gibbons and his boss J.P Ricciardi (who imploded over Vernon Wells' play just before the all-star break) are losing their cool as the team stumbles . . . and losing control of their team at the same time.

Ya nice one Bruce, the team happened to take three of four over the Yanks(should have been a sweep), while imploding at the same time, good reporting somethin tells me Bruce didn't see one game over the weekend, as the Jays played with a ton of emotion, especially V. Wells.

Yeah, you can tell Campbell is a Jays fan and never ever played the game of baseball at any type of level himself. But to his credit, he doesn't hide it, and is learning the job. As mentioned above it does take a few years to groom a guy for the job, so if Campbell can have another 5 years he may not be too bad. I still think he overbelieves in the Jays as they're still 4.5 games back of a playoff spot and are looking at 2 teams in front of them for the division, and 3 for the Wild Card.
As for color guys I like Mullinicks the best. He does need a bit of work with the broadcasting, but he does add good insight, and for the most part it's pretty impartial. I remember when he played, I always thought if theres a professional athlete who can't score a lot of woman, I bet it's Rance Mullinicks. Looked like your classic nerd, but was a decent ball player.
Should be an interesting week heading into the trade deadline. This years Jays have played well for sure and have hit the ball well all year. If they could get a guy to come in and give them some solid play at short, it would help them out a lot. I'm guessing Riccardi waits until Thursday to see if they can make up any more ground before he makes too many descisions. They're close, but making up this last little bit of ground does have long odds against it.

Imploded over Vernon Wells? Are you on crack Bruce? By saying that right now (pre-all star game) his #3, 4 and 5 hitters have been a weak link of late. Wow what a public bashing that was. D'oh boy is a joke and it's obvious he knows nothing about baseball what so ever. Just another reason to hate the man

Jansen Vs Piniero tonight. Red Sox are up against Zito tonight and then Minny and the White Sox play so with a win we'll be able to at least gain ground on one of the teams aherad of us in the Wildcard.
A lot has been made about the Jays really not having that long winning streak yet this year. Now with the rotation as healthy as it's been this may just be the time, throwing out AJ right after Doc sure is a luxury from previous years and Lilly has been pitching great of late. Should be an intresting end to the year

Seattle has a chance to have a big 2nd inning.
3 already in, man on 2nd, none out.
And no Wells tonight........scratched just before game time.

Janssen needs to go back to AAA.
His last 7 starts:
IP/ERA
3.1/5
3.0/7
6.0/5
6.0/0
3.1/5
4.0/2
6.2/4
That's something like a 7.80 ERA by my calculations - a HUGE liability going into a stretch run. And all this doesn't even include 4 ER in only 2.0 innings thus far tonight.
J.P. needs to acquire a veteran arm at the deadline or give McGowan a try because Janssen isn't getting it done.

Typical of this team so far this season, just can't get good pitching against the poorer teams to maintain any kind of win streak. No HD on the game tonight btw. Hinske is doing JP all sorts of favours right before the deadline though.

Hisnke did look very good last night. Man if we just had a solid #5 guy all year who could just be average at best we'd be a game or two back of the Sox. O well, move on and let's win the series. Halladay on the mound tonight, good time to get the winning streak back on

That's more like it. 6th inning jays up 8-2 with Doc on the mound. Looks like the Bo Sox are gonna win and the Yankees already did, however CWS lost so with a win tonight we move to within 3 1/2 of the WC

Ya the bats are looking great again, hopefully AJ pitches well tomorrow and they take this series too. How has Rios been doing on rehab anyway?

Rios went 1 for 3 tonight with a walk. he lost some weight I geuss so it make take a little bit to get some of that power back. However with the way this teams been swinging the bat, they don't need to rush him back into the lineup at all
