Former Flames pick Jack Beck injured as well. Shame that guy hasn't been able to shake the injury bug.

Potter was hoping on joining the Flames once his season with Arizona was done, but now it appears the injury will have him going back to the NCAA.

Quote:
Before suffering the severe upper-body injury, Potter had hoped to join Calgary’s organization after ASU’s season ended. Those discussions are now on hold.

“We haven’t talked about any hockey,” Jennifer said. “It was really hard to make the decision to do what he needed to do, which was best for his future, not only in sports, but for the longevity of his body.”

The focus will now be on strength and power when Potter returns, areas Edwards identified as the next step in his development.

“He’s an elite skater,” Edwards said. “It’s more about adding that strength and power to be able to play against men.

“There’s details to his game as a center that we can continue to work on. If his strength and power can improve, then the rest of that stuff becomes a lot easier.”

Maloney said Potter’s late-season surge only reinforced the organization’s belief in his long-term upside.

“He had a slow start but was really coming on of late and we were really happy with his play,” Maloney said. “He has elite speed and high-end hockey sense and those are two things we need a lot more of in this organization.”

Maloney emphasized there is no urgency to rush decisions about next season.

“There’s nothing wrong in my mind with slow-cooking a player,” Maloney said. “As far as next season, it’s really up to him, his family and his advisor.”

aid Calgary Flames President of Hockey Operations Don Maloney, whose team made Potter the highest drafted Sun Devils player in the program’s history.
Like why is this guy anywhere close to media. Ask Conroy.

Conroy has been on the phone for 48 hours straight talking about a Coleman trade. And that was just one call!

ASU. Isn’t Maloney still based in Arizona? Probably why he was quoted? Just a guess

Don't complain just for the sake of complaining, or your complaints will get lost in the noise. If there is something specific to address, then do so, but this post of yours was pretty useless.

Another year in NCAA for Potter with him going to the World Juniors (I believe he still qualifies) is probably for the best. Then turn pro the following season.

Don Malony is President of hockey ops for the Calgary Flames, he's based in Calgary and has been here for almost ten years now. He might have a home in the Arizona area, I have no idea, but he's soundly based in the city. And he was probably quoted, because he's still in charge of hockey operations here and he's not speaking out of turn hyping up a prospect.

Still qualifies, turns 20 January 10 of next year. Hopefully him and Reshney have a good tournament for their respective countries.
