Sabine is pretty darn bad. The way her character is written as well as the performance imo. I might just be that she sticks out like a sore thumb next to the great performances from those around her, but the point stands.
The next weakest has been Ahsoka, strangely enough. Why was she back to her pensive ways travelling in the space whale after her supposed "transformation" last episode?
Maybe that bit was filmed before the previous episode was, and she didn't get the memo that she was new/old Ahsoka now?

Sabine is supposed to be a barely, half trained, misguided youth who is the opposite of a trained Jedi, or Jedi after Order 66. If anything, could say she has become emotionally entangled with the universe and with an individual.

How so? I mean I enjoyed seeing Thrawn in live action and he could be an amazing villain to write a story about, except that we already know he doesn't accomplish anything of note thanks to the new trilogy
So far watching this series I've been pretty bored overall. Sabine is a bad character/actor with way too much focus and Ashoka is too wrapped up in her own head to be interesting. The only characters I've become invested in are Baylan and now Thrawn, which sucks because one is gone because the actor is dead and the other we already know doesn't do anything. Unless Disney has the balls to actually retcon that entire stupid trilogy I just can't get invested in a "big picture" scale Star Wars series like this

It's time to be real. Baylan is the true hero of this story and the character we're all invested in.
If he turns good in the end then he'll have the arc to complete it.
Once again a titular character of a series is overshadowed by a supporting character.
I actually forgot this was an Ahsoka-centric show last episode. It was eerily reminiscent of BoBF.

Mikkelson will do just fine I think.

Well...I hate to be 'that guy' but Thrawn was all about 'Discipline.'
Both mental and physical, and several times was portrayed as a formidable physical opponent.
So the fact that he has maintained that discipline among his troops as their commander (seemingly) but he, uh...hasnt missed many meals, kind of goes against that.
Its not like he's Jabba or anything, honestly, the only thing that bothered me a little was his face. He was always portrayed as 'hawkish' so it didnt really work for me, but so what? I'll get used to it.

Damn, this is what I get for not knowing the prerequisite material backwards and forwards.
Maybe the apparent lapse in physical discipline is reflective of the hardships he's endured in the new galaxy. Just like his dwindling troops and their possible revival via the nightsisters (many speculating they're all undead like Marrok and that his second in command is the only other living member)

Sorry...letting some of that Star Trek 'nitpickiness' seep in...
#notmythrawn
Other than that I loved every detail. His voice and mannerisms are perfect, I really like the threadbare uniform like its been washed too many times, etc.
I nitpick...then I move along.

This is the perfect opportunity. Powerful Nightsister magic is involved in bringing Thrawn back to the main galaxy, disrupting the flow of time and changing the course of history. If he hadn't returned then some other splinter of the Empire, let's call them the "First Order" might have risen. But instead we have a new threat to the republic.

I'm sure 'The Second Order' will do better.
If not then theres always hope for the 'Third Order' but they're going to call themselves the 'Third Reich' and the Jedi who is going to defeat them is going to wear a fedora and have a lightsaber whip...

What if, when they return to the other Galaxy, it's years AFTER the new trilogy because of time dilation from travelling with the purgils?
Although you can't really introduce time dilation in a series where everyone constantly travels at light speed. But they went ludicrous speed to get to the new galaxy, yeah?
I don't know, that might be cool.

Even if they don't retcon the sequel trilogy (highly unlikely they do imo) they can always pull the classic "Somehow Thrawn returned" even if he gets vanquished in this series. LOL.

I liked how they made "ludicrous speed" a different visual from the usual hyperspace look.

I really can't see Thrawn joining the first order. But maybe that is based on legends Thrawn more then anything else.
What would be interesting is if he did come back, started his war to restore order to the galaxy and the First Order and Snoke completely backstabbed him, it would be more satisfying then Sabine or Ashoka cutting him down.
That would certainly go a long way in giving more credibility to the First Ordah.

I mean, it seems really obvious how this is going to go. Thrawn talked about death and resurrection being a night sister thing, and then they're loading a bunch of casket-looking items onto the ship for transport from the night sister "catacombs". And Morgan asked him about sending more troopers and he said something about how their numbers are lessened. He's clearly coming back to the main galaxy with an army of reanimated dead warriors. That's probably what Marrok was - so they'll have a bunch of those dudes, I guess.
And then once he gets there there will be a bunch of people in the Republic / Senate who will bend the knee because they're still loyal to the Empire.

Yeah, initially it was her, and Hux's father that really were the leadership of the first order, then they "found" Snoke and Phasma.
I liked Rae Sloan's character, she was a rare good one in the Aftermath books. And her creation of the name First Order was actually good, because of everything that happened with Palpatine's empire and what happened after his death.
I'm not all that interested in bringing the sequel movies that hard into these series, but we know the first order is out there like a cancerous tumor growing in the unknown regions, I don't doubt that they will be bringing it in at some point in Mando and Ashoka.

We even saw Hux Sr on Mando last season, played by Hux's real life brother. And I'm pretty sure some of the cloning stuff gets roped into the Exegol stuff and jars of Snokes. I can't see Dave saying away from not trying to mesh it all in better like he did with TCW and the prequels. For better or worse.

We also got Pellaeon (who was Thrawn's second in command) in that same scene. Wonder if we get a reunion for them in Ahsoka?
