The best part of the provincial commitment is it is directly tied to infrastructure. Even if the NDP wins the election it will be difficult to back away from such investment.

Sounds like there's a timeline on the deal for execution - either deal gets approved provincially by the end of summer, or it's dead?

With the funding being towards infrastructure, I don't think the NDP would kill the deal.

I do view it as if the NDP does kill the deal, they get left holding the bag as the government that lost Calgary the Flames.

(That said, I don't think the NDP would kill the deal)

Lol just be happy if the ticket price increase comes in under 30%. No need to get greedy.

So all the NDP does is say - we will ratify legit deals done by the previous government. Smith is trying to make it sound like it's only them who will.

Is there a development plan for this event centre/district or is everything starting from the ground up again?

Why would they? This is more of an NDP-like deal than a UCP deal

Interesting political move. Not sure what it would mean if we cut through it from a provincial perspective...

As clearly denoted by the Premier herself, the province isn't actually contributing to the Event Centre it's self. I'm sure much of the infrastructure that's being funded, would be getting funded anyway.......feels like more of a political play to link the arena and the election somehow, although my guess is there is actually no connection given the province isn't funding the actual rink.
