Especially on an expiring deal carrying very little 2022-23 salary.
I feel like the flames value him enough for the intangibles and have little incentive to move him by tossing in sweeteners, short of having another big salary coming in.

I just don’t really believe that Lucic at this point offers anything particularly special that any team is out there looking for him. The intangibles, whatever they may be, don’t often manifest into game altering outcomes. And the tangibles show me a guy who by the end of the season, was marginally an NHLer.
If he gets moved it’s because Treliving is out there looking for someone to take him. That’s without taking salary into consideration. And with no team needing to reach the floor, everything about the salary is working against Calgary. Maybe someone sees a last hurrah kind of uptick but I’m skeptical. One assist in 12 playoff games is hard to explain away.

Nobody is worried about production if you have a wish to add Lucic. It's his room addition, cup history and intimidation.
If you have a team in a division with some scary players and don't have a lot of size on your roster you likely value that more than most.
Is that team out there? Who knows?
But at $3.7M and only $1M actually owing it's certainly more possible than at $5.75M, full salary, and multiple years left on the deal.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Safe to say at this point that the deal ain't happening?
Or did I just give it the opposite of the kiss of death?

Other than a team trying to get to floor or given a very good sweetener , no team is looking for a $3.7 million 4th liner , let alone $5.75 . I don’t care what the intangibles are .

Thats my guess.
Doubt they would deal Lucic this late in the summer when he would have to go to a new city, find a place to live, find schools for the kids and all the other stuff that goes along with moving your family. Guys like him get the respect of clubs to not uproot things this late in the process.
If its Anaheim then maybe still a chance as apparently he might still have a place in LA?

I think Lucic is the last piece in a deal to go for cap relief if we land Kadri. No point in moving him out with an asset attached for no reason.

I think he would have to be moved prior to any Kadri signing, otherwise teams interested in Lucic would kind of have us over a barrel

Not sure I want Kadri if only because the contract will likely end very badly.

With the Huberdeau signing, I think it looks like Treliving is still in full-on win now mode and will be prioritizing that over how things look a few years down the road.

It comes with winning nowadays, contracts that end poorly. The tail end of the contract isn’t intended to be successful. It’s so you have the player right now to win.

He probably won’t be here a few years down the road anyway

Where’s he going to go? Whatever team signs him will likely be stuck with the contract for its duration. I just don’t think it will be worth the quick fix it will be.

Pretty sure he means Treliving won't be here for the duration of the player's contract.

I think Treliving is going to be our David Poile.
I think going foreward the whole league is going to have longer term gms .

It very likely will end badly, but the key is the next 2-3 seasons.
We have one of the best coaches in the league
We have a Vezina caliber goalie in his prime
We have one of the top D cores in the league
If we're going for it....then let's go for it.
No point in scrimping on the forward group when everything else is set up to win now because we're worried about how a Kadri contract might look 4, 5, or 6+ years from now.

“I could just tell in his eyes, the way he was talking, he wants to win right now. He wants to build a good team; he wants to go get players." - Huberdeau on Treliving during their dinner
That combined with Zadorov telling Brendan Parker he hopes the Flames add a couple of more players after the Tkachuk trade and Loubo/Leslie hinting at more moves? I definitely think Treliving is going for it.

It appears Flames Twitter fans are all trolling with the eye emoji’s and speculating something is going down. I am keeping my hopes up during this upcoming week
