I think he could be there. It would be unusual that a dman doesn't go until the mid teens, but he may not be the first to go. And if he does, that means another high quality forward falls to the Flames.

Pronman had an article in the Athletic where he had players ranked by tiers. Picks 9-17 were grouped together as players described as bubble top of the lineup type players or middle of the lineup. Getting a potential first liner at 16 overall would be solid.

What’s interesting is that a lot of unexpected players could be there. I have seen reinbacher everywhere from 7 to 20. Crystall same thing as well as some of the centers. Could have a really interesting choice if some of the defenders go 10 to 15. Likewise could leave a really good defender if more of the forwards go In that range leaving a really good Center. Oh to have multiple firsts like I suggested by trading tanev and lindholm.

Heidt looks a lot like Pelletier.
Smaller sized LHS LW with some scoring presence.

Ritchie on the other hand looks like a PWF RHS RW.
Based on my limited viewing of their youtube highlight videos *multiple* I think Ritchie has a higher scoring upside, but is definitely not as quick.

I fully expect Nashville to pass us, pushing us to the 15th pick and then the Preds pick 16th. Unfortunately, Nashville will then win the lottery and move up to 6th, pushing us back again to 16th. They will then pick a franchise player with the 6th pick and we will always look back on how it could have been us if they hadn't beat Colorado in game 82.

This is the way.

Nashville needs to get 1pt against the Avs tonight in order for us to fall to 15th iirc.

I think if Danielson is available at the Flames pick that would be a solid option. A name I'm not seeing a lot of on this board which I think has some home run potential is samuel honzek. He's tall, still filling out his body but knows how to protect the puck. Potentially a center but might end up as a winger. There is a bit of ruzicka in his style of play (doesn't always play physical, some consistency issues) but if all goes right, you could have a Tage Thompson lite.

Another interesting swing for the fences pick could be Eduard Sale. Have seen him ranked all over the 1st round, but generally top 10. Could definitely fall. Button had him ranked top 5 beginning of season.

What is the historical cost to trade up into the top 5?

I wish the NHL had a points value for each pick like the NFL makes trading up fun.

We need cheap talent to produce for us if we want to contend and this is one of the ways to do it.

I like the sounds of Brayden Yager - Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Oct. 19th: "A dynamic skater who will shoot at anytime. Will drag others into the fight." Frame will fill out at the pro level and we need quality shooters.

Yager if we go forward
Reinbacher if defense.

I'd be pretty happy to get either at 15/16

In this draft?
Darn near impossible.
If you have pick 6 or 7 and want to move up to take the Russian kid you could probably do that.
But moving up from 15? I think there is literally nothing the Flames could offer to make that happen.

And even if they could it wouldnt be worth it. Would probably cost Wolf + Coronato + 15 or some other ridiculous overpay

I would lean to a forward only given the current d-core is youngish and when Oliver returns, don't see much need to bring up a young D. We have two Backland's in Zary and Schwindt, 200 ft centers with some scoring upside. Missing that goal scoring center prospect which I feel Yager could fill. Thoughts?
