Our 'Direct' flights to Cuba were all of a sudden no longer Direct.
That was a pain in the ass.
Same with my return trip from Paris.
"Oh hey! Your 'direct flight' is now no longer direct and now connects in Halifax. KthxBYE sucka!!"
And if you want to get in contact with the Airline? Good f'in luck with that.

I recently flew 23 hours, across 14 time zones, in one continuous 26 hour period. Yeah that day blew... but the pain was totally worth it and I can't wait to go on the next adventure.

I flew 1.5 hours from Comox, yet I had the same 3 hours in an airport as your massive flight. Good job.

It was the one time I was hoping for a longer layover to able to stretch my legs...but nope, had to hustle to catch both connections and didn't even get a chance to take a pitstop leak.
Speaking of which, there is nothing more glorious after a long trip than your home toilet.

I'm trying to figure out where you went that was a 23 hour flight. Fiji maybe? But then you wouldn't cross 14 time zones...

I am guessing it was 2 flights with a short layover to make it 23 hours in the air over a 26 hour period. I don’t think a single 23 hour flight exists from anywhere. Flights adding up to 23 hours could be almost anything. NY to LA to Australia or something.

I'm the same way, but I still love to travel. My priorities in a new country are food, relaxing on a beach somewhere with cheap beer, and making friends with some locals and other travellers. My favorite travel memories are sitting with a group of people I've just met drinking and swapping stories. So much more relaxing than trying to plan and stick to an itinerary

I find the trip away from home exciting and actually look forward to seeing different airports, as long as there aren't any massive delays. The trip home however is the complete opposite though, because the reward for going through all those hoops is simply returning to your "normal" life

Ulaanbaatar > Istanbul > Toronto > Calgary
Long, but honestly wasn’t terrible. Two legs with Turkish Airlines which was great.

Interesting that they'd fly west instead of east...
I would have thought Ulaanbaataar > ~China / Japan / S. Korea > Vancouver > Calgary...

Yeah it was basically the wrong way round. The only other way to Mongolia is through Seoul, and at the time they were still under serious Covid protocol…so I decided to fly through Istanbul and do a 5 day layover to see some college friends and check off a place I always wanted to visit.

Hmm...so you've been to some countries that are adjacent to some serious turmoil...

Vacation begins when you get to the airport and ends when you get to the airport. Nothing worse than a crappy flight home

It actually turned into quite the little perk. Because of the war and/or Covid lockdowns affecting their citizens, both places were completely devoid of the Russian and Chinese travelers that typically dominate that region.

We went to the Nordic Spa and I thought the same thing. Half-Capacity was actually somewhat nice.

It should be illegal for tv apps (Disney, Netflix etc) for roku, fire stick etc to require manual sign in using a remote where you spell your full email and password using only the onscreen keyboard.
In fact, I’m gonna go one step further and say it should be legal to murder the person who designed it and the person (or people) who approved it.
Not to mention the security risk of signing in, in front of a room full of people, thus exposing your username/password.
All apps should have sign in on their website and then only a code is required on the tv app (like crave).

This ^. Booking a direct flight doesn’t mean #### anymore. The airline will just change it on you whenever they want and you can’t do anything but take it.

Haven't booked that many flights in a while - is this really that common across the board now? Crappy.
