Huge move, definitely another signal that management is all in on this season which I think is the right call given the circumstances. Not exactly sure where he slots into the lineup when the dust all settles.
But it’ll be nice to infuse a little more speed into the line up. It looks like he plays a more uptempo game with plenty of tenacity and spirit. He should fit in quite well with the group and the system that’s in place. I like that he checks relentlessly, is hard on pucks and doesn’t take a lot of penalties with the style he plays. His shot is surprisingly good too. Sounds almost like a clone of his cousin Elias Lindholm.
I just hope he can take a little bit of pressure off Elias on the PK. I really don’t like the idea of Lindholm playing so many minutes on the PK when a simple shot block can break a foot or finger. He’s too important offensively to potentially lose from penalty killing IMO.
Having so many tools in the toolbox is incredible. Nearly every suggested line combo looks great. I've just been sitting here grinning like an idiot at each one.
What a luxury it is to have such sixy depth!

absolutely thrilled with this acquisition. If there was one player out there I wanted them to get, it's Jarnkrok ... he'll fit in like a glove. Smart and versatile player, good 200 ft game, can chip in offensively, kills penalties, can play up and down the lineup ... he just screams "Sutter" to me. There's a lot of things that Treliving can and should be criticized for, but IMO he deserves a lot of credit for adding Toffoli and Jarnkrok. This group of players has earned those kind of moves. Hard not to get carried away looking at that lineup ... so many options, so much depth.
price was steep, but he had a good market for a reason. With agents Lindholm and Markstrom, I'm also optimistic when it comes to re-signing him in the summer.
I don't know if it's Sutter’s influence, but Treliving seems to have progressed a level. He has always been strong at managing assets, but he is doing a much better job filling gaps and finding fits.
I would rather overpay a little here and there for the right pieces. This team fits together really well and has a real identity for the first time in his tenure.
I think things are just working out a lot better for him this year. The reason Treliving has tended to do stuff just along the edges at recent TD's is because—as he says—"I take my cues from the team"—and the team hadn't been playing great. The last time the time the Flames were leading their Division Treliving went hard after Stone, then circled back on Zucker. When both those fell through he then made a trade for Kadri, only to see that also scrapped.
Treliving has always had a good eye for what the team needs, but it takes time, patience and a lot of luck to get all the pieces to fit together. Things are finally coming together this year.

Looks like a couple of shrewd moves by Tre this year. Jarnkrok perfectly fits a need. A rare trade for UFA. Generally we used to trade for depth pending UFAs. Jarnkrok could and should provide more than that.
Going all in, this year.
Hopefully he fits in really well as we all expect, and then is quickly extended to a team friendly deal.
His last deal was team friendly though, so maybe that's just hiw he is, or maybe he'll be really looking to cash in this time. Hopefully it's the former.
Please this, give Monahan one last chance with great wingers to revive his career. If we get him going this team looks almost unstoppable. Not to mention Coleman- Backlund - Jarnkrok has the potential to be an elite shut down line while chipping in some offense
I've always been a huge Jarnkrok fan. In a little bit of E=NG nostalgia, good ole Ken Holland managed to motivate me to give up on the Wings after 20 years when he started trading away the future to keep their playoff streak going. Guys like Janmark and Jarnkrok going out, and resigning Dan Cleary 37 damn times, I just couldn't take it anymore. If I remember right, the Jarnkrok trade was the last day I ever posted on the now defunct letsgowings board.
So I think you guys will really enjoy him as a player. I always loved watching him in Nashville. I think letting him slot in with others will allow him to excel. You guys continue to look strong.

As a RHS who can play C and wing I bet he gets slotted RW with a LHS C and takes a bunch of draws on that side, like they used to do with Monahan and Lindholm.

It's amazing how things slide into place once you finally have an elite NHL coach. Suddenly the team is playing an actual structured game with players in the correct roles and consequently the team's needs become obvious.
Contrast this with the old days when some fool coach decided to break up an elite top pairing by forcing Brodie to play LD and then the GM wastes a ton of assets getting an over-rated Hamonic to fill the hole the bad coach created.
Also likely doesn't hurt that Sutter is effectively the pro-scout providing the info on players who can fill the now correctly identified needs. Instead of wasting assets on Hamonics, Brouwers and Neals, they get Gudbransons, Toffolis and Jarnkroks.
