The prudent move is to sign Kane for the remainder of the season for a low amount (lets say a max of $4M AAV prorated for the remaining half of the season) and treat it as a "prove it" type of contract.
I would love to see Kane flanking Backlund and Coleman. It'd be the ultimate forechecking line

Of course Kane's agent is going to say publicly that numerous teams are interested. Maybe it is true, but I would take it with a grain of salt. He wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't trying to manufacture interest for his client. Social media seems to be the tool for doing that these days.
My guess is that a few teams are probably kicking the tires, but none are completely sold on signing him.
Do you know what team could use a player like Kane? San Jose. And they are willing to fight with the NHLPA is get out of having him. I think that says a lot and other teams should be extremely cautious about taking him on.
If there are indeed numerous teams interested and Kane has a few to pick from, he will almost certainly pick the one that best allows him to pad his stats and increase his value.

Unless the team itself says they are fine with the Flames signing him.
The players may have less of a problem than you think.
They want to win, and are more likely to give an offending player a second chance. Or not.......

But is he vaccinated? If he's not, he becomes a lot less worth the hassle if he can only play games in Canada.

if i was brining him in, i'd start with an offer of the league minimum.
i also would not offer him more than a 1 year contract initially - but i am not an NHL GM

I think brining a player is technically illegal in 48 states and 8 Provinces.
That being said though, the NHL should let teams get creative with compensation.
Maybe a contract where he gets paid per minute of play, or only gets paid per goal. Or they have to hire him as a minimum wage Equipment Manager who occasionally laces up to play.

They are winning. Just not as much as you want them to. The fact that there's more teams ahead of them now is because they sat idle due to Covid.
I don't disagree they need to make a move to make the team better. Their last three games have proven they aren't a true contender yet. But that doesn't mean they have to take a freebie on player with a bad reputation of being a cancer.

Should have a poll.
A simple yes/no like "Do you want the Flames to sign Kane"
Be interesting to see how many people don't care what he's done off the ice as long as he helps your team.

14th in winning percentage and 14th in points.
Many teams have missed games. The average team has played about 34 games, one more than Calgary.
Calgary is a good team, maybe very good.

I will say this.. many thought DeAngelo was done. That he was a cancer to any team and it would be a black mark on any team who takes him. Well, Carolina took him and no one said nothing. It has worked out pretty good for Carolina and DeAngelo thus far as Carolina got a premium PP specialist and d-man for nothing.

That seems like the perfect place for a degenerate gambler to go play.

I dont like the De Angelo comparison. Tony D might be a Trumpy Numpty but he's not an egregious repeat offender or cause of massive concern in literally every single locker room he has been in. It's not just a one time deal with Kane. He has a proven track record of toxic behavior detrimental to his team.
Screw that guy. I know he will get signed somewhere, I accept the fact performance over rides character. But for once, let's stop pretending this guy is a salvageable quantity. He isn't.

I don't care for Kane but I'd take him on a deal for the rest of the year.
Would not sign him long term.

Let him head to the KHL, he would fit in with the Russians who got booted from a flight here.

Completely off topic. But has anyone else had issues loading the forums from iPhone? I can’t seem to get it to for a couple days now.
