What teams in the Majors would you say actually care about winning game?

Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, Astros, Giants, Braves, Jays, and sort of the Rays?
If you're willing to spend the money (and have some good assets to build around), it's essentially a 10-team league - the 6 or 7 perennial big spenders, plus 2 or 3 teams that have it all come together that year.

The Jays need an infielder - hell, they might need two infielders.

At this point, we're looking at:

Espinal - Bichette - Biggio - Guerrero

Who would rather they trade for Jose Ramirez or Matt Chapman?

Ramirez has the far superior bat, and he can play 2nd.

Chapman has the far superior glove.

I think Chapman would be cheaper and and I like his defense at 3rd to help out Bichette, I also think he can rebound to his 2019 numbers especially in this lineup.

Ramirez's bat would make this lineup absolutely scary and I really like the fact he can play 2nd in a pinch.

I am more concerned about 2nd than 3rd

Also, I would rather have the better bat. The difference that a good fielding 3B can make over an average one is relatively minor, but another great bat turns this lineup into a powerhouse.

So, Ramirez, easily, for me

He hasn't really played 2B since 2017, aside from 16 games in 2018. Not saying he couldn't do it.

I am still hoping for Freeman over anyone else.

If they can get Ramirez, I am 100% fine with Biggio and Espinal platooning at 2nd.

Ramirez would be such an amazing add, but he will cost a lot to acquire and is a free agent next off season. I don't mind the Jays giving up a strong package to acquire him as long as they're very confident they can get him to sign an extension that won't cripple their ability to keep the young core in tact. Just like the Berrios acquisition last season.

A switch hitting 3B in his prime who is garnering some MVP votes annually would be about as perfect a fit for this team as I can imagine.

Then you just platoon Biggio and Espinal at 2B

and add Freeman as a DH who gives Vladdy the occasional day off in the field.

And BOOM, you have the best lineup in baseball.

It’s really bizarre there hasn’t been a signing today, at least - any of the big guys that is.

I’m guessing there must be a major domino or two (Freeman and Correa) to fall before there is a flurry of activity. It was bizarrely quiet today after quite a bit of build up yesterday

Rizzo goes back to the Yanks, does this mean they out on Freeman now?

Should mean they are out, yeah. Or at least have a good idea they aren’t getting him and wanted to snag plan B while they still could
