Not even close, IMO.

Kylington has played well but agree to disagree on this take

Funny, I didn't even notice Kylington in the first game.

He definitely has not. Hanifin just quietly plays a solid game. It's great Kylington is playing better, but let's slow down a bit here.

I don't think Sutter cares about the confidence of Monahan scoring or not. Sutter cares about sound hockey and not making mistakes. So far Monahan hasn't been very noticeable on the 4th line which is a good thing.

I doubt Monahan sees top 6 again until he deserves it and he hasn't deserved a promotion yet. Still looks like his hip is bothering him or he just can't keep up.

One more thing, Hanifin is a faster and stronger skater than Kylington.

NJ broadcast just brought up a graphic that shows Flames defence are top 5 in various chances against advanced stats. Slot/rebound chances as well as a couple others. Some interesting advanced stats I haven't seen on a TV broadcast before.

Edit: rewinded and posted

Naw I think people just don't wanna get too high on the new guy and not disrespect Hanifin.

Like I said Hanifin has been good but I dunno Hanifin always leaves me wanting more. He definitely has another gear.

How many points has Tkachuk gotten when Lindholm scored? I think he must have been on the ice for all of them unless it was a line change (or the OT goal).

Is that true? I thought Kylington was the fastest skater on the team?

Hanifin plays WAY tougher minutes, and is asked to do much more.

Kylington has been great, and we're all fans, we all want him to be great. But you are massively underselling Hanifin here. He has been our best defenseman this year.

That’s a 4-1 non-call.

Hanifin reminds me a ton of Jay Bouwmeester. I mean that as a high compliment: I loved Bouwmeester and thought he was a fantastic defenseman. But the smoothness and efficiency of his game was always held against him by folks who wanted a different kind of player. I think that's going to be a thing Hanifin contends with too.

Hanifin is absolutely ahead of Kylington and dealing with top pairing duties.

But Kylington is looking like a solid #4 which is huge accolades for a guy that was where he was on the depth chart entering camp.
