Man...the NHL needs provisions like that.

"Nobody likes him and hes a big jerk, so we suspended him!"

Pretty bad when after all that's happened to him over the past few years, he still hasn't learned any humility. Like, not even a little.

Sounds like someone who did well in his draft combines interviews

What's pretty damning is that he played 21 games, scored 14 goals and 11 assists. Off-ice he must have been such a cancer that his team still elected to release him going into the playoffs.

I remember people raving about his good character ahead of the 2014 draft. I was terrified the Flames would draft him at 4.

Literally everyone on CP who has known him has said that he's a piece of ####.

What a clown.

I remember seeing a snippet of his interview with the Flames where Burke commended his tie despite being in a sling.

He must have interviewed well ... or the Canucks' process was just flawed.

Imagine all of the suspensions that would be handed out around these parts if that was a provision here.

I can't believe the Flames were considering bringing this guy in for a tryout.

Imagine after everything that went on, getting a 2nd chance to resurrect your career in a beautiful country like Switzerland, and then just pissing it away.

Interviews in general, even in workplaces like any of ours, are legitimized ways of gaming the system. Certainly there will be some individuals who are just bad and maybe antisocial and can’t speak, but not one person is completely honest in an interview setting. Certainly you can tell a bit from an interview but so much if it is coached and prepared for before it takes place that any one person knows how to direct the questions. I’m sure every player interviewed talks about how hard they work, how their family raised them right (fake humility). Meanwhile they’re chugging beers at keggers and sleeping with everything that’s conscious (or otherwise). All bs.

apparently some players didn't get the memo. I recall a Flames management type (maybe Burke again) talking about how a player just came off so bad in his interview the was dropped right off their list.

these players are simply coached to a tee when it comes to doing these interviews. I bet teams get generic, cliche answers from every player, so they'll have to come up with ways to crack that facade. Probably not an easy task.

If that was a reason to not hire young people, employers would have few employees .

Other than the "otherwise" part of course.

That was moreso directed at hockey players. The gentleman that don cherry used to peddle everyone now knows was a farce.
