Talbot is also 33-years-old, was not a nominee for the Vezina Trophy, and did not lead his team to the second round of the playoffs.

I'm sorry but that is a pretty stupid statement.

I get the concern but think it's overblown. The assistant GM's do a lot more work than they get credit for

I'll speculate that this deal is waiting to see what happens with another potentially big signing within the organization. Tre's working both parties to take lesser deals so he can get both.
Please?

Talbot went full Brian Elliot in the most important game of the Flames season and the most important game he had played in the last 3 years. It was a meltdown between the ears. I don't think he was an option for the team.

Lol, the more likely scenario is that falls through and then we hear about how close it was

I'm not sure what you are attacking about his statement there bud, I agree and kind of makes your statement stupid. And maybe there might be a better way to get across an opinion rather than using words like stupid.

NHL GMs don't just hammer away at these on their own. There is a whole staff in the offices to work multiple deals at the same time.

He played well enough to win 4 games. Flames lost 2 games despite talbot putting on a clinic

what's an overpay in this market? Lehner and Holtby have both gone for very reasonable contracts. if the sticking point here is giving up a seventh year or going up to $6.5 million, I think Brad needs to swallow that.
Obviously if it's something super nutty like a 7x$9 I'd like him to shy away but if Markstrom comes out of this having signed a somewhat reasonable contract with another team, I'll be very disappointed

that it's inexcusable if this doesn't get done. it's a free agent signing, someone can come in and offer too much money, that is why it is stupid to call in inexcusable.

Just went on what you originally quoted not the entire post, my apologies.
I'm just not a fan of calling others opinions stupid. Sorry

Why is it that calling someone "bud" is a such a trigger for me?

It's pretty condescending depending on the context. I feel the same way

I honestly see this as a much more nerve wracking situation for Markstrom and his agent at the moment than the Flames.
The two parties seem to be focused on each other, but with other teams plugging holes both sides are losing out on the last good fit if they don't get it done.
Difference?
The Flames would go back to Rittich and cap space. Markstrom would be in a tough spot.
Treliving may end up doing better than expected.

You can actually say the same thing without calling it stupid. Disagree with things, but you don't have to be so damn aggressive with all your posts. Half the time it looks like you are looking for an argument, and it gets old quick.
