Something's happening at the OKC Thunder/Utah Jazz game just before tip-off right now. Both teams are being sent to their dressing rooms.

I guess it depends how bad it gets here. Looks what's going on in Italian and Champions League soccer right now. That is much bigger money than the NHL. Italian soccer is shut down, and now a Juventus player has it and teams are under quarantine. They're really going to have no choice but to shut it all down.

I think it’s quite likely the playoffs are cancelled. When you add up the players, coaches, management, support personnel and the refs across the league, you have a lot of people. At 50 people/team, that is 1550 people. Add in the interactions these individuals have through travel, hotels, restaurants, etc and the likelihood that one person gets the virus is likely, I think. I think that shuts the league down.

Rudy Gobert has an illness and touched a lot of mic’s prior. Could be first sports player in NA to contract the virus.

At a press conference Monday, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert attempted to make a point about overreaction and fear by touching everything in sight before he left. He leaned over and touched all of the microphones and recorders.

I haven't heard anything from the Kings yet, but have reached out to my contact. I expect them to follow SJ/CLB in the near term and close the doors to fans.

Either way, I won't be attending either of my 2 remaining games. It's not worth the risk. The only reason the numbers are as low as they are is due to the lack of testing here. It also seems unlikely this is going to blow over in a matter of weeks or a month.

If the NHL wants to continue the season, my prediction would be in the very near term it'll be in empty stadiums.

Given that they are a gate driven league it may take a Covid-19 case traced to the rink in order for them to pull the trigger on it, which of course would be a PR disaster.

If the NBA player really does have it, I'm guessing that is game over for sports for a while.

I don’t want to be that guy. It’s not funny but I find it funny he tried to make a point and now he has an illness of some kind.

The reality of the situation = not funny
The irony of the situation = kiiiinda funny

Especially if it's proven to just be the flu (like early reports are saying, but not confirmed), then it becomes an "okay, that was actually pretty funny" situation

They are projecting up to 70 percent of the population of the entire world potentially getting infected

Italian doctors are reportedly talking about too many people requiring medical attention to treat all, and deciding criteria as to whom they let die

A cavalier athlete behaving in an unnecessarily risky way is not funny, not for what happens to him, but for the others to whom he potentially exposes it

This is too serious to be funny

If Trump went blind staring at the eclipse, I would give you that one

Honestly, there really isn't much any of us can do at this point so we may as well find some humor in the situation.

There is though. The exact opposite of what he did.
