They've let sooooo much go on both sides, then call that immediately after Chucky getting taken down.
Really lame.

With the quality of chances he gets, he should be producing more and him being the #2 centre is definitely a team weakness. It’s one of the reason they’ve tried Lindholm at centre as much as they have.

We have one top six centre.

This is why i HATE hockey refs.
That last sequence made no sense.

This is why this team has gone nowhere, is nowhere, and going nowhere. We are firmly residing in mediocre city. Same old, same old.

At the end of the day the goal of hockey is not to produce, it's to outscore the other team. I haven't checked the numbers but I imagine even with his relatively miserable season Backlund is one of the few plus or near-even players on the team. Unlike our so-called only top six center.

yes he gets a lot of good chances but doesn't score enough, this isn't anything new or particular to this season though. i've thought for a long time you can win with one of monahan or backlund as your top 2 centres but not both. the fact that they haven't addressed it is part of why they are where they are

What do the Flames have to lose in hiring a proven coach? Is it am ego thing with Trelieving know, that he has to be the dominant hockey guy?

Coaches are available, Wards team has no structure at all, and it's a gimme because Peters had to be punted.

Plus, it's embarrassing. This is a recurring thing. Everyone in NHL knows that it's OK to punch Backlund in the face; he'll do nothing, just keep looking at the refs.

Two, we just don’t have any top 6 RWers

It's kind of unrealistic to expect them to hire a new coach this late in the season.

But the way the refs are calling things, as soon as Backlund punch back, he will be given a roughing penalty.

our other 'top six centre' is 71st in the league among centres for 5 on 5 scoring and is a huge defensive liability. not exactly a strong backbone.

Plus for all we know they contacted guys like Gallant and they just said no.

The major changes will take place in the summer. I expect to see a much different team next season, including the coach.
