Flames seem like such a close knit team. That is the sign of a good team.
Did anyone read Ferrence's comments about the Oilers while he played there? Complete opposite of what is happening here.
Flames have bought into Peters and his system and it shows.

|
Whats ridiculous is you and Dino constantly dragging things into the mud over what we have.
If Rittich has stolen the net like you think, then why hasn't he stolen it yet? Bad coaching from a coach who has the team atop the conference?
Truth is, Rittich isn't there yet. He's going to get another run here to show he can take the ball and keep it. He is Kari Ramo 2.0 so far in my estimation. Good for bursts then loses it. Which is fine if two goalies are running. Which is why some fans don't mind praising Smith for being average, because thats about the best we can hope for. Which is what we need.
The best part of all of this? The team keeps winning despite whatever anyone thinks. So.... Go Flames.

I love when they shoot the jumbotron over tk the bench and I can see Peters yelling and swearing at the refs. Nice to have some passion behind the bench again.

David rittich has above average stats showing that he has been an above average goalie in his starts this year unlike smith. It is worrisome that in the Columbus game peters was very quick to yank rittich to “shake things up” but tonight he wouldn’t even when that was definitely a situation that called for it. Smiths veteran reputation is getting him more leeway than his performance deserves.
Rittich deserves as much leash as smith if not more. To me that’s what people are actually frustrated by.
And watching the two of them, one makes me confident the other does not, rittich controls rebounds and looks confident, smith is constantly fighting the puck and is lucky our D is generally good and clears rebounds.

Deserves has nothing to do with it. Peters is doing what gets results. Rittich has a poor record over the last few games, and Peters definitely has a feel for the roster. So he made a move against Columbus. How did it turn out, BTW?
ETA: this is kinda funny stuff coming from a guy who spent most of last year saying Bennett just needed more time to work things out, preferably in place of Ferland on the top line.

I don’t see him as a pouter either. I see him as a pretty serious dude that wants to contribute more and takes his lack of offensive contribution to heart. He shouldn't be satisfied and it is good that he isn’t.
He needs to get his edge back though.

Ain't that the truth..and IMO is part and parcel why the Flames play with such passion, most of the time, last Oilers game excluded.

They have a group of 5 star players that when they turn it on can change games in a split second, even when overall the team game is dipping a bit, which it has undoubtedly since Saturday.
The good thing is you come back and win a sloppy/bad game and it spurs on another stretch of good games due to the confidence that instills.

You are much better when defending Sam.
I suspect that is your niche on this forum. Stick to your strengths.

Not dragging it into the mud. I believe we both make some valid points and just because our opinion differs and we don’t really see smith as an nhl caliber goalie doesn’t mean we’re dragging the argument into the mud.
As I just said in another post, it’s about the length of leash, and smiths should be extremely short, that’s what is frustrating. Enough “working through it” enough “team played poorly in front of him” enough “not his fault”
If you give smith the benefit of the doubt give it to rittich too because stats this season speak for themselves.

Rittich is still in Chad Johnson territory for me. He might be playing well right now but that could all change at any time. I hope it doesn't but I won't start feeling like this is more than just a hot streak until atleast February.

With Smitty, he's had his struggles at times this season but he's always been a great character and leader. I dont buy the theory that he bailed on the team at all.
Plus, he's been great the last handful of games. He might have pulled something on that second goal. It looked kinda awkward, and he let in a couple of quick ones after that.
