Had to leave the game at 2-0 and watch it on replay today. Really happy they pulled it off. It's interesting watching the lines get blended this year but actually seeing results. I think part of it is simply the average quality of player this year is significantly higher.
Plus, through 5 games this year, we already have 2 all time epic gifs. What a season so far. I actually remember Rittich doing an early celebration last year as well, but we didn't end up scoring on the play. Good on him to keep working at the early celebration and not giving up.
One surprise for me was Frolik sitting, simply because I didn't think the coach would pull the trigger on a deserved night in the press box. I really think that Vegas game last year broke Frolik.
If you ask a goalie who has the hardest shot in the league they will usually name someone on their own team because they see them every day.
Well, Bennett’s teammates talk about how he is the hardest hitter on the team because they see it every day. We saw him turn the tide of last night’s game with one of those hits. Really feeling good about that kids game under Peters.
Thanks for the actual feedback and for running a good site. I'll be the first to admit that my posting style is divisive and it puts things out there that perhaps aren't the norm, or what everybody wants to hear. And that's partially on me -- I'm super emotionally invested into this team, and I guess I let that bleed through too often.
I hardly think I'm alone in that regard, but that's honestly just bias, probably. I don't want to alienate anyone or drive anybody off the site, and if I'm doing that, it's probably best to take me off the site for a while.
Deegee -- Count me in, then. I'll never post in one again, they really are useless. It's either people saying the name of someone who scored (plus exclamation points), posting cars, or getting mad. What's the point?
I know what the feels like. Whether we win or lose, it's hard not to carry that emotion on with you even until the next game. I only started following this team recently, like you. Jumped on the bandwagon in 04 and never fell off.
GTs serve their purpose. They are fun and exciting and up to the minute "emotion" of the posters following the game. There is a point to them much like there is a point to intense discussions such as these.
I find sometimes that reading through the game thread when youre miserable about poorly the team is doing allows you to not feel alone in your misery. Adversely, watching a huge goal be scored followed by everyone celebrating is like being part of the crowd or a bunch of friends celebrating.
My point is, there is nothing wrong with being emotionally invested in the team, or using GTs as a vessel to channel that. If we don't care about the Flames, then why watch, or even be on this forum in the first place?
I really want to see Johnny on his off wing on the powerplay... And not at the point
He's just so much more dangerous on that right side. Put lindholm on the left point and Gio on the right point. Tkachuk in front of the net and Monahan in the slot... Classic umbrella powerplay
Something like this but obviously Lindholm being a RHS on his off wing
Off wing when your the distributor is frowned upon because it requires you to turn your back to the play to retrieve a puck. The shooter can be on the off wing because they are not responsible for puck retrieval and the dman covers the board play behind the shooter.
If Johnny was a shooter in addition to lindholm then then switching would work but would require Johnny to move to the right side and Gio would be responsible for puck retrieval on his off wing which adds another wrinkle.

Well there's your problem right there. You are young and therefore still have hope for the Flames. A couple of decades of losing and/or mediocrity will correct that. Just let the apathy wash over you. You'll be happier for it.
In other words, Zadorov got away with an interfering hit from behind and breaking his stick over an opponent with a cross check before the Flames ended up with 2 penalties from a scrum.
If the ref would just call a penalty when it happens none of the other BS happens.

The thing that has stood out to me this year more than anything else is seeing that we have a very high IQ hockey team that when deployed and instructed properly can become a serious threat. Sometimes it can get frustrating when this team isn’t finishing but the overall decision making by all 4 lines in all 3 zones has been a massive improvement from last year. A player who has been doing all the right things and has looked really good but not being rewarded with points yet is Czarnik. That’s a really smart and effective hockey player who fits right in with this team. Very happy with the season so far. Prepared for some ups and downs but it’s nice to watch a fast pace brand of hockey again.
Elias Lindholm, what a beautiful man. It feels like the Flames got him just when he’s starting to put it all together, almost like William Karlsson last year. Patience with highly drafted Swedes tends to pay off. Thank you Treliving

Please try to stay focused on the students’ work when grading .
Thanks.😋
I wouldn't worry, I'm sure the marks go up exponentially after a flames win.

Czarnik reminds me of Byron in so, so many ways. Similar stature, speed, and general bad luck. Hopefully he can show up more on the scoresheet soon, he deserves it.

We can do without Brodie. Yes he does above average at times but his biggest downfall is that he falls asleep on the ice often. He's definitely not a first paring type.
Bennett threw couple of big hits last night. It was so refreshing to see Flames forward finishing checks (thanks to Bennett and Hathaway)
Our 4th line played awesome as well, winning battles down low and cycling the puck, etc
The anti Brodie analysis is so dumb. Just no awareness of what is actually happening on the ice.
I don't think the Gulutzan Flames would have come back and won that game.
Lindholm really adds a nice element of skill and tenacity that I like a lot. Steals the puck and then a real quick shot to score the game tying goal. That was a great play.
