If we added kadri that's a cup contending forward group. Just hope the D and Goaltending would hold up.

I would assume Nylander would be the odd man out though.

Not now that the Flames moved Hamilton. Who else plays in the top 4 if you move Brodie straight-up for a forward?

Stone would move up a pairing leaving a 3rd pair of Kulak/Andersson.

Dicey at best.

Leafs trade Kadri then they have no one to play C and have to trade\sign someone to take his place.

Kadrinisnthe Leafs shutdown guy on an amazing contract. Im sure the plan would be when at home match Kadri up against the oppositions top line and let Matthews and Tavares feast on the rest.

Leafs dont have depth at C if they have to trade someone it will be a winger but they dont have to and doubt they would.

Also Horton doesnt hurt the Leafs because he is permanently on LTIR. And Brodie for Kadri is a laughable trade proposal. Kadri has term and has scored 30 goals the past two seasons.

If they were to move Brodie it would probably be a sign that they feel Valimaki is ready.

You'd probably look more at a Stone plus deal. It's in their own zone they need help. Stone isn't a real shut down guy but he's better at it than Brodie.

Still need someone to play 3C. If this happens the points itnto have deep depth in the forward groups. Leafs have tons of cap space next season. Why trade Kadri and create a huge hole?

I am not comfortable with just giving Valimaki Top 4 minutes right away in his first year. Rookie players can have cold stretches and if the flames are looking to compete this year, I would rather have the stability of a veteran.

If we are approaching trade deadline and Valimaki and Andersson (Or Kylington) have cemented their place in the lineup, its a different story.

I thought Nylander was a natural C?

Leafs are going to have to move someone eventually with what they are facing next summer and if JT goes there. He is going to get at least 11 per.

So we're pretty sure the Islanders are out, but we're also sure it's TO and not SJ?

Nothing is for certain but I really doubt Tavares would choose the Sharks over Toronto or TB even.

I would like to see him on the Lightning. It would mean Tampa would have to make trades and I would hope Brad would be in on those calls. Imagine Kucherov, or Johnson on the Flames completing our Top 6? Damn that would be pretty.

Man I hate to see those cocky POS Leaf fans get their guy, but it sure beats him coming to our division.

Johnson might be possible, Kucherov starts with Tkachuk and no thank you.

I'd forgotten that they lost 2C, so perhaps they keep Kadri, at least for this season.

As said above, nylander can play C but definitely not the same role. Not a bad dilemma to have I suppose.

Would be funny if Tavares doesn't announce his decision until after TSN and Sportsnet finish their coverage of free agent frenzy tomorrow.

Holding up the market, with all the Insiders just staring at their phones waiting for something to happen.
