It's not like they have a lot of options, their roster sucks.

(To be fair I think it's hyperbole to say he wouldnt' even be playing without his name or anything like that. But he is pretty bad.)

I voted no, but if it came down between bringing him back or him going to the Oilers, would definitely bring him back.

This place would implode if Iginla finished his career with the Oil.
Would Iginla consider it? If the Oilers are poised for a playoff spot, I bet he would - fortunately that is highly unlikely.

I love Iggy.

But Iggy is too slow. Way too slow.

Some people around here seem to just want him back based on what he's done for the team in the past. Iggy is probably my favorite player of all time but it's sad to see him play right now. Sure, there might be a flash of what he used to be every once in a while but the game has clearly passed him by.

If you could have your choice of the Flames winning the cup this year or picking up Iggy so he could retire a Flame and then get eliminated in the second round, what would you pick?

I'm honestly curious to see what some people would pick because I think some around here care more about feeling good than winning.

I'd let him go to the Oilers because it would all but confirm he doesn't care about winning the cup as much as his fans want to see him win the cup.

I voted yes because the question is whether they should consider it. Brad should look at the options, assess the cost, and if he thinks Iginla can add anything (Even if it's just intangibles, powerplay, etc).

If he assesses it and the answer is no, the game's passed him by that's fine too.

With divisional playoffs if both the Flames and Oil make it there is a strong chance they meet in the first round. BOA in the playoffs with Ogonla on the other side. Depending how that went he could completely tarnish his legacy here in my opinion.

If the Flames are poised for a playoff spot and this is Iginlas last year I hope we go get him. For everything he did for this city and organization it makes sense he chases the cup one more time with the team he came so close to winning it with.

This is not a legitimate argument.

It is no guarantee that the team would either do better or worse with Iginla on the team. Jarome would get his ice-time cut and would probably be a healthy scratch IF he was helping the Flames lose games, long before the playoffs arrived.

I am more on the 'no' side, but your argument is the same as:

"If you could pick between winning the cup with Jarome, and being eliminated in the 2nd round because this team didn't have enough leadership and someone to rally around, what would you choose?"

It is a nonsensical argument.

Grant Fuhr played for the Flames; Guy LaFleur played for the Nordiques. Players don't seem to share the same team loyalty that fans do. I think Iginla will consider playing for the Oilers if he is promised a chance to play with McDavid to run out his career.

IF he can contribute, fit in the lineup and help the team win games, sure why not. The nostalgia factor would be an added bonus.

Based on his performance so far this year though, I have my doubts.

If the cost is more than a 3rd rounder at the deadline then I don't see a deal happening but if Iggy could be had for dirt cheap then I say go for it
Yeah, he could play for London's upcoming KHL team!

However, if the Oilers are trading for him then the Flames have to do the honourable thing and step in. Dont let him soil a great career by donning that jersey, dont be like Ference or Russel and soil your entire career.

We could trade for him and he could be a healthy scratch forever. He could moonlight as a 'Beer Guy' or serve pocket dawgs. Anything but Edmonton. Anything. I mean anything...

I can't believe there are almost 200 Flames fans who DON'T want to see Iggy play for Calgary again. The terrorists have won.

Let's sign an aging, former greatest flame of all time so he can sit and eat popcorn every game instead of letting our rivals pick him up and hinder their team

Yeah that soubds like a fantastic plan

no, it just means that there are almost 200 Flames fans who care more about the logo on the front than the name on the back.

I cheered hard for all the past iterations of the Flames, from Nieuwy to Theo to Iggy. that was fun, and those days are in the past where they belong. now I cheer for Johnny and friends, and only care about what helps them win. I just know that they're currently not strong enough to help carry Iggy to a cup the way the 2001 Avs were with Bourque. that's why I'm against him coming back.

I would like him to come back just so we can be called the Calgary Iginla's, one last time.

If Iginla joins the Oilers he will be dead to me. Sorry, but there are certain lines you just don't cross. That would have been like Gretzky finishing his career with Calgary. No.
