Edit: What FanIn80 said
Google 'Mediocre Average' and you'll find a lot more sources saying the two are not interchangeable as Mediocre is more subjective.

You can't sit here and tell me that you would of just as easily used the word Average when your actual goal is to paint the team in a more negative light.

ok inflexible language guys, the strict definition of mediocre is average, but the way it's currently used in common conversation is far more often intended to mean poor.

when Nux utterly fails in his attempt to stop the war rig and Joe says it's mediocre, did he mean that was an average performance? obvy not.

So averaging it out over 20 years... mediocre.

Who judges the mediocrity of a team based on an average?

Over that time span Chicago and LA are mediocre too.

If a team has been very good and very bad for large parts of the last 20 years, they haven't been "mediocre."

Over the last 20 years, the Flames have been very good for about three seasons, average for about four and bad to terrible for the rest. I'm not sure what there is to argue about here.

If you are going by the last 20 years there's no doubt the Flames have been worse than mediocre.

I think things are coming around with this coaching staff. Just need a little more on the PP.

PP is an area of focus and through over 10 games has been a disaster and cost us a couple of games already. The zone entries are embarrassing. Watching the Rangers game yesterday, a team that also loves the drop pass, you can see the difference in speed/passes between their approach and ours. Our PP is way too predictable when with the weapons we have on the backend all it needs to be is 3 quick passes with a shot and collapse in front of the net.

I have a personal bias against the passive box PK and even with our "improving" PK it almost cost us the game last night after changing the momentum on Tuesday already.

I hated the Cameron hire when it happened and believe at this point we would be better off with Gelinas. Let Cameron scout the senators...

5 games into the season and I was calling for Cameron to be sacked.

12 games into the season and I am still calling for Cameron to be sacked.

How much longer do I gotta endure this nut for before they finally stick him in the pressbox...

I just can't believe the Flames glossed over the reason Ottawa fired him, then decided to employ him to do exactly that.

Not that I hope it comes to that but it's always good to have an experience guy on the bench that can take over the head coaching duties if need be. He has NHL head coach experience and that one good season in Ottawa.

This really does remind me of Eakins. What the hell are these defensive pairings after a good game? Someone thinks he's smarter than everyone else.

Putting aside the fact that dressing Grossman should have been a fireable offence, it is also frustrating that Gulutzan has no offensive system that can even compete with the Kings. Go out wide and take weak shots from bad angles generates Corsi events and nothing else.

Thankfully the pacific has been hot garbage as well. Cameron has to go if the team cant get a proper special teams going. Bring Martin back to the bench.

I've given it enough time, and I'm convinced. GG is terrible.

Excellent games from Backlund, Matty T.K. and Elliott are the only reasons we have Ws. Certainly not the work of GG at this point.

The slumps we have from our star players are very concerning.

Agree with this! The only times we have beat the kings in the last 2 years has been with speed and a quick transition game. Instead we are trying to match them with a slow donkey and a non-existant offensive system.

In the NFL, It's not unusual to see an assistant coach/coordinator canned early in the season. If you're really hoping for a change here, that is the only one with even a remote possibility of happening this year.
