The Hamilton trade still amazes me! Best move in a decade for the team.

Boston is dumb. The only organization which trades early 20's elite pieces.

Hamilton looks unstoppable at the moment. Teams will eventually get wise to a trailing Hamilton on the rush, but that slap shot is still perfect. Pretty confused as to why Hamilton isn't on the point for the first PP unit, but that doesn't appear to be slowing his offensive production much. Dude is a beast.

I think him being on the 2nd unit gives the PP more depth.

Its not even that though, you can be as wise to it as you want, that kid can fly! His skating makes Bouwmeester look like a plodding oaf.
Hamilton and Brodie are amazing skaters, having them both is a nice luxury.
So teams can be forewarned, "Hamilton will jump in the rush and be the trailer" but good luck stopping him.

When Hamilton takes those extra couple moments to let go his wrister, you know it's going to get through to the net. He's just too good at finding minuscule spaces to get the puck through (as evidenced by his first goal last night).

Can we finally put the trade Dougie Hamilton nonsense to rest. If the minority of fans didn't see his value to the team last year and don't see it now, they never will.

I think the biggest reason is that the first unit was having success with the Gaudreau-Brodie-Versteeg umbrella formation, and with Versteeg's injury Giordano's just keeping his spot warm until he's healthy again. Then Wideman's filling in Giordano's spot on the second unit. Although, just like the rest of the team, there's not really a gap in quality from PP1 to PP2, the second unit still has Tkachuk-Backlund-Bennett up front. Plus Hamilton's had great chemistry with the Backlund line, so keeping that together makes a lot of sense.

Can we also put the "fire Treliving" nonsense to rest?

Quite remarkable that Hamilton has been a whipping boy to a very vocal minority on CP.
23 year old D with his vision, size and skill do not grow on trees.
He is one of less than 4 D in that age group or younger that could be elite.
People can't be excited for that kind of return?
or....
Too impatient and /or dumb?
Great trade.
Hopefully an embarrassing lesson, for some, learned.

Probably not. My bet is if/when Hamilton has another tough stretch of games that same group of strugglers becomes very vocal again.

It's actually quite comical that SG feels like he can judge stubborn people who spew nonsense.

I want to see more consistency from Dougie Hamilton. 2 seasons and 2 bad starts. He's picking his spots better breaking up ice. What do we get going forward? Dr Jekyll or Mr Hyde? I hope it is the Hamilton we've been seeing lately. A little more physical side would be beneficial, especially in the playoffs. If it takes a vocal fan like myself to motivate, I'm up for the punishment.

Two new coaches and two new systems. I'm willing to slide a pass until next season and see where Dougie lands to start.

Hes had 3 coaches and 3 systems in 3 years. As for physical, he's physical enough for his game. Do you call for Brodie to be more physical?

Yes, I'm sure it was your intelligent and constructive criticism that you administered right here on these boards that was the genesis of Hamilton's turnaround. Keep fighting the good fight.

The Leafs are about the same around these parts as the Oilers are: Irrelevant.
