The ending of the women's soccer game is intense. Scoreless through regular and extra time, then to penalty kicks.

The first four shooters for both sides score, then the Aussie goalie makes a massive save on the fifth shot, followed by the Brazilian goalie making an even bigger save when the fifth Aussie shooter had the game on her foot.

Brazil finally wins it on the 8th shot.


Brazil-Sweden in one semifinal. Canada-Germany in the other. A Canada-Brazil gold medal game at Maracana would be insane.

those are the margins. when the US missed their 5th shot, Sweden buried theirs. When Brazil missed their 5th, Australia could not.

NBC has Pierre Mcguire doing Water Polo commentary. It's like they thought, "It's kind of like hockey if the ice melted and there was a pool underneath."

I wasn't expecting a dominating performance over the French and by convincing I meant more of a deserving victory. Canada got the victory but they didn't really deserve it. They were outplayed and out-chanced but regardless the team got the result that we all wanted.

Canada certainly appeared to be the better team out there, France had some high end individual play but had trouble putting more then 2 passes together. Certainly Canada was a bit too defensive after the goal, but that can happen in a game.

Why wouldn't they put him on field hockey duty? Does the USA compete in field hockey?
