Go Bruins? What a jarring way to end the article, is that him officially turning in his Habs fandom card? wow

I dont know quite what I'd do if I was a Habs fan and we traded PK. I'd probably cry to be honest. I'm a big fan of Subban on the ice and off the ice. He seems like the perfect franchise personality to me. I think a lot of this has to do with culture and that team is like an army. Nobody can be bigger or better than anybody else. The only thing I can think of is they just didnt like his larger than life, celebrity status on a team that is all about the team, the culture etc.
Its really sad to me to be honest. Way overshadows the Hall deal. I'm pissed off that one of the most exciting players in the NHL is now no longer in the canadian market. If I were a Habs fan I would be absolutely livid. Not as a reflection of the trade in a hockey sense but in terms of shipping out someone who is a character guy, loved in the city, has his best years ahead of him, best friends with the star goalie, etc for an older guy who is better defensively and has a super heavy shot.
It obviously has to do with coaching/management having a problem with PK. I'm dying to know what the guy did to be shipped out of town like that. A town where people everywheres eyes light up when they speak of him.
I hope the Habs fans get SOME kind of an explanation

I kind of feel bad for Shea Weber to be quite honest. Here's a guy that spent a good portion of his career being the best defenceman in the NHL. Now his legacy will be "The guy that got traded for the messiah".
I think, short term, this is actually a good hockey trade for Montreal. Weber is a hell of a defenceman. It's just in the long term that this deal looks a bit iffy. Who knows, however, how Subban turns out in the next few years. I do think he's a severely over rated player.

Well now I hope he retires at 39. Be enjoyable to see a team carry a $24 million cap hit for a guy who hasn't played for them in the 10 years.

Is Philly free and clear from the cap penalty since they signed the contract?

I'm curious to see how good Subban/Josi can be. Both very dynamic. I think if they get some good forwards to play with Forsberg and Johansen - watch out. Nashville could be a team. Definitely a handful of very very good pieces to build something.
I think I will watch the Preds really close next season.

This is probably my favourite hockey tweet in the history of twitter.

Yeah Weber probably deserves better than this and I hope it never gets to the point where fans start booing him. That said the fans in that market played a roll in running Subban out of town so be careful what you wish for.

Yup. Philly never registered a contract - Nashville did - so it's not their problem.

Yeah IMO from everything I have seen the fanbase loved him.
The management group and coaching ran him out of town - and used the media to try and justify the hate at times, but it was never the fan base.

The only thing I've heard about the fans and Subban is apparently the French fans aren't all that broken up he's gone and the English fans are devastated. But from everything I've seen and read it's both French and English fans who are livid.

Everything I see is exactly the opposite of that.
Subban is universally beloved in Montreal. Like Iginla loved, or more.

Should open one in Edmonton, too. Bring in a Grade A, juicy Alberta beef hamburger and we'll give you a single Swedish meatball in return!

From what I see/hear on the 'street', francophone fans are every bit as angry as well.
The francophone media? Not so much.

Just checked and yup, the trade still sucks for Montreal. It's hard to believe PK is going to do anything but flourish in the defender factory that is Nashville. I wouldn't be shocked to see him to outplay his current contract.

He just gets to play with so much more talent on the backend now.
Ellis, Ekholm, Josi vs Markov, Emelin, Petry
Know which group I would prefer to play with.

I'm hoping they pair him with Ellis and do Ekholm / Josi. Best blue line in the league.
