Seriously anyone upset with management is directing their displeasure in the wrong direction.
The team has rules and they should be followed by every player. Being upset because you don't get to see Gaudreau or Monahan for one game is no ones fault but the players themselves.
They need to be accountable to their team and the fans. This is not the effort that the team and the fans deserve and that's why they are being benched.
As a fan you are not being punished by this. We deserve players who are committed to trying to win regardless of how the year is going and this is a move to help keep players in line.
It's easy to work hard and sacrifice when you're winning, it's when you're losing that you need to work harder and be even more committed.

If it has been building, and that specifically means constantly being late and breaking team rules, then I agree with the punishment. But I am not taking Cox's conjecture and speculation with any seriousness.
If this is the first time, then it could've been handled separately.
And if SM and JG missed the Cloutier /Gelinas/Hartley power play session or Bouma missed the PK video sessions, they're probably better for it, given the league ranking.

I'm not a fan of Hartley, but I fully support his decision here. If players aren't going to take practices more seriously, you end up like the Oilers.

Definitely disappointed in these players. Hope it's just a one off and we don't hear about this going forward.

Monahan can't be happy. Most of his family his here in toronto and would have likely been all together watching tonight.

Didn't Washington bench Ovechkin earlier in the year for the same thing?
I'm all for accountability no matter who the player.

Weird post. What about the little underprivileged kid whose favorite player and ultimate hero is Johnny Gaudreau and his parents worked over time in the plant for hours on end to get their kid a ticket to this game.
Huh?

I don't think you jump to scratching your 2 best forwards if it was a one-off thing or something not serious.
It's probably not fair to speculate on specifics. I just hope this is a wake up call for them.

If you're going to make the ridiculous "poor kids" argument then it goes both ways.
