I think I'm more surprised the Jets only scored 20 than the Colts only scoring 7. Jets are gonna surprise people this year and the Colts were massively overrated this offseason

Todd Bowles has an early line on Coach of the year. The AFC East teams do get the benefit of playing the NFC East and AFC South. So that gives them the inside track on the Wild Card berths.

If I were a University of Michigan fan I'd be very nervous right now. Unless the Colts significantly improve, I can see Irsay firing Grigson and Pagano, then going to Jim Harbaugh and offering total control and a blank cheque. And for Harbaugh, gonna be hard to turn down reuniting with Luck. Those rumours figure to pick up if the Colts keep floundering.

The twitterverse was having good fun last night speculating on Saban to Indy and Chip to 'Bama.

One of the Bay area writers I follow mentioned the whispers he is hearing out of Indy sounds a lot like the Harbaugh/Baalke power struggle in SF he covered last year.
If that were to happen no way Jim Harbaugh would wade into that mess without Chip Kelly type control.

Oh yeah, Harbaugh is never coming back to the NFL unless he gets total control. But he's one of the 5 best coaches in football so I would think most teams would give it to him. Colts are a disaster right now because of front office, but with Luck in place it wouldn't take long for Harbaugh to turn it around.
Also two notes: Browns going back to Josh McCown this week now that he's been cleared, and Kam Chancellor has ended his holdout and is back with the Seahawks. Rare to see the team straight up win a holdout (i.e. no new contract at all).

So after Manziel's big game last week, the Browns have announced their starting QB this weekend is...Josh McCown.
Browns gonna Browns

Might be the right call. Manziel is young, still needs work (especially protecting the ball), and seems to be learning in practice and getting better.

Nope. I'm a Michigan fan and am zero percent nervous about that. One of the more hilariously ludicrous speculations I've seen in the #hottake world.

What a lousy slate of games this weekend. I guess Baltimore/Cincy and Miami/Buffalo are the ones to watch outside of your favourite team? Rams/Steelers could actually be a good game but it's not exactly a captivating matchup.

Does anyone think Urban Meyer would jump to the pros if OSU win another title? He'd have pretty much nothing left to prove at the college level.

Finally, Chancellor ends his holdout-
"Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
#Seahawks S Kam Chancellor is rejoining his team with or without a new deal, source said. It’s a question of fines & contract. But he’s back."

You have to wonder how his team mates will view him after that hold out. Misses time and they lose 2 pretty key games, and ends up coming in with the same contract.

I don't think it's him the players are going to be annoyed with.

Was going to say what the hell is Swami smokin to pick Cowboys over Falcons today, but the Weeden-led O just got an opening dive TD in the first 68 seconds.

So....Luke McCown is the second coming of Tom Brady apparently. 14/15 for 100 yds and a TD.
I simply have no idea about the NFL any more.
