I wish the Flames could somehow nab Matt Belesky. Big, skilled, and totally dominated us in the playoffs. Too bad all the rumors have him heading east

Not much change with Joel Ward. Steadfast in seeking 4 years, hasn't closed the door on WSH yet, but expecting to hit UFA market tomorrow.

I think the Flames will be quiet on July 1, but I do think they will look at adding a defenseman, rather than a forward. Perhaps need to move Wideman to make it work, but Oduya, Sekera or Erhoff would be great, perhaps too expensive.
Who knows what Boston is doing, maybe Bartowski?

I think Calgary signs a d-man but it will be more of a tweener guy, an insurance policy on Ladislav Smid. They will probably want to avoid bringing up a kid who isn't ready, or bringing up a kid just to sit on the bench due to an injury.

I hope your right and if so, Hiller has to be the odd man out. Ortio's play last year has earned him the opportunity to be at the least, a full time NHL backup. No way he passes through waivers.
