Honestly, I thought those 3D remakes of I-IV were terrible. The original top-down versions with the sprites have aged well enough that they can be left alone.

I tend to agree, but mostly because they were ugly Nintendo DS 3D. A beautiful 2D game is much more appealing than an ugly 3D game.

Now if they were going to go full blown, amazing looking PS4/X1 remake of one of the old 2D games, that would get my interest a lot more.

Mine too, but I just don't see the value in it. If you're committing those resources, just make Final Fantasy XVI in that style.

I think we may need to create a FFVII Remake mega-thread

Confession time: I've never played a Final Fantasy game and I had never even heard of Shenmue before this E3.

20th Anniversary controller and headset coming in September for purchase separately!

EDIT: Looks like the controller is "exactly" the same as the one in the limited 20th Anniversary collection. It's missing the logo buttons on the touch pad/button.

Shenmue I can certainly understand, but no Final Fantasy ever? Wow. Do you play RPG's?

Can I recommend that you try this one day?

I've kept the one 20th Anniversary I have sealed, might as well keep it that way.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do some crazy 22nd (or 25th ) Anniversary grey (PS1) edition PS4 bundled with FF7R.

You aren't the only one. Though I have played a couple demos for Final Fantasy. It's just not my type of game.

My name is Russic and I've never even played a FF demo. I watched a friend play one on the PS2 in the summer of 2000 or 2001 once. That is the extent of my FF knowledge.

At this stage, I don't know what I would do for a remake of IX. I miss that game beyond all hell and have once again lost my copy after moving. It will turn up, I'll beat it, put it away and lose it when I move again.

Shenmue is a pretty old game that was never on a Sony platform which is why it should surprise nobody that a lot of people aren't familiar. I've played FF games but unlike others I've not been able to get past the goofiness of JRPG's. I didn't even finish FF7 and actually liked Shenmue 2 better than any FF game.

I've only ever played two Final Fantasy games. Tactics Advance and XI. I suppose I also played a demo of VII. I've always wanted to go through VII but just never did. I'll probably end up getting the re-make whenever it comes to PC.

I haven't played much of Final Fantasy 7

Remember I rented it once, enjoyed it, but never purchased it. Will likely give it a shot now.

Think that is why Shenmue 3 on PS4 was such a big surprise. The first was a Dreamcast exclusive, the second was Xbox exclusive in North America, and now Sony came in to revive a title that they never had a stake in.

I am so excited for this game to get made.

Time to bust out my Dreamcast and play through this again.

E3 Press Conference Roundup

Bethesda

Doom was shown. We know it was Doom because the title said Doom, there were demons on Mars, projectiles you could dodge, a chainsaw, and a ten minute sequence where the demo player backtracked to press up against every wall while grunting.

Later it was revealed that Fallout 4 will have a collector's edition (because of course it will) with a ridiculous life sized Pip-Boy that you strap on your ridiculous arm. There's no screen. Instead, it's built to house an iPhone running an app that displays the Pip-Boy user interface. This item is sure to get a lot of use, if you consider "looking at the plastic collector's edition garbage on your shelf and shaking your head in regret" as a use.
