Kessel to the Flames tastes like throw up.
Media can we please link no Leafs to the Flames none.
Burke and Treliving just delete the Leafs number.

I wasn't being serious, but it does kind of make sense. Rangers are trying to win now. Nash disappears in the playoffs, Kessel (in his limited exposure) doesn't. Plus the Leafs get rid of Kessel's contract while still getting value back. They could easily flip Nash to another team.

Nash had 14 points in 19 playoff games this year. He might well be turning that disappearing act around.
That said, you've explained why Toronto would do it (and they would do it in a heartbeat), but I'm not sure the Rangers want to be saddled with that term.

Maybe they want a player who actually shows up for the playoffs? And Nash's contract may end sooner (His cap hit is only 200K less than Kessel's BTW) but he's also 3 years older.

LOL. They Leafs aren't touching Nash. They're rebuilding. They're not taking an older player with the same cap hit.

14 points in 19 playoff games this year. And after the disappearing act Kessel pulled in the back half of this season when the Leafs badly needed someone to step up and lead that team, you probably shouldn't be talking.
And I am aware of the age difference, thanks. But the fact remains that Nash is one of the players in this league who scores at a higher rate, and he also brings more to the game otherwise, all with a far more palatable term on his contract.
Put simply, if the Leafs and Rangers swapped Kessel and Nash, Toronto would be adding something to the deal to make it work.

Phil Kessel: 13 goals, 21 points in 22 playoff games and +8. He's done far better than Nash.
Phil Kessel is better than Nash. End of story. He surpassed Nash's career high in points with Bozak.
Fact: this was the first time in 4 years Nash has outscored Kessel.
Ask people in Columbus about Nash's "All Around" game. He was famous for disappearing for most games.
When Nash had more hype the Jackets got less than Kessel for him. So now the Leafs need to add? LOL.
And BTW, Phil Kessel will be the same age as Nash when his deal ends.

What years were those playoff games in? Honest question.

And what does it matter? I'm including Nash' Columbus playoff games from years ago.
They're from 08/09/2013

I'm thinking something like this would work for Toronto and NY.
Kessel to NY for Nash
Nash (50% retained) to someone else.
Leafs could justify retaining salary on Nash cause his deal isn't for 7 more years. Teams would pay more for a salary retained Nash than they would for a full price Kessel so the Leafs win, and Kessel scores in the playoffs so the Rangers win.
If that makes sense. It does in my head, I just can't think of a better way to type it out.

I like how the troll bolded my argument about Kessel pulling the chute this year when his team needed him most, then failed to make a single argument that refutes this.

Thank god we aren't touching Kessel and that terrible contract. Whichever team ends up with him is going to be really disappointed (which will likely be the Leafs, if that trade list is true).
