Sven is certainly looking like Daniel Tkaczuk 2.0.

Tkaczuk ran into concussion problems that derailed him, Sven is looking like he'll be undergoing the same career path.

I wouldn't be shocked if he was playing in the KHL or something in 2-3 years.

The only difference here, and it's big, is that Tkaczuk had a string of promising play and then was felled by concussions. Thankfully Sven hasn't been hurt, but he also never had a series of play close to Tkaczuk before his injury. Concur with the earlier Saprykin comparison tho.

I'm pretty sure Sven has had a couple or more concussions, one in junior for sure. It just isn't publicized.

A poor man's Dustin Boyd. He will be in Europe by the end of next season, if not sooner.

In Burke (and Hartley, who hated him too) we trust.

Sven had two big concussions before he reached the NHL, a few months after he was drafted and another one I believe the year after the 5 game recall.

I don't see Sven being an NHLer... he lacks the compete/intensity he once had when he was in junior. He's a great example how a player can have high level skill but lacks the intangibles to be an effective every day NHLer.

Sven was exactly who we all know he is in this series, but I was still nervous that he would fluke his way to scoring a goal. That would have been horrible.

Yeah, I was too (nervous). Baertschi is exactly that kind of player though, kind of like Vrbata... he's not going to create much on his own in a game like that, but if the puck trickled its way onto his stick in the right area, he has the skill to bury it.

Didn't even see him on the ice, he was that invisible. Feel bad for him and I agree about all the early injuries possibly derailing a promising career.

4. 7.

Are you sure? I'm positive he wore 47 in Utica and Vancouver.

Still too early to tell. Need to know who gets to the conference finals.

If the finals are Calgary vs Wild and Ottawa/Detroit vs Washington/ISlanders the pick could be as high as 49th OA.

Essentially the pick is 53rd OA and will move up up one spot for each of Calgary, Wild, Washington/Islanders, and Detroit/Ottawa who make it to the conference final.

the only thing that derailed Sven is Sven.

don't buy the concussion notion at all. The kid plays hard -SOMETIMES....but once things get going, he disappears.

Concussions don't affect everyone the same way. People can have concussions can comeback just fine.

Sven has blamed EVERYONE for his failure (or his team's failures like last night), but himself. Considering that MO, the concussion "card" ought to be his first draw.

And that is what made this a good gamble for the Canucks. They don't have the prospect depth we do, so they could afford to gamble on Sven, give him that roster spot next year and try and work through his myriad of issues.

But after the last two games, I'm would not be terribly confident if I was a Canucks fan. I figured we could intimidate him into disappearing, but we didn't have to because he vanished all by himself.

His career trajectory is similar to Pavel Brendl's. Read the article below and replace Brendl's name with Sven's and you can see into Sven's future.

Does anyone know the direct mp3 link for the post game audio? I want to listen to the interview and the link on the site doesn't seem to be working

I would argue that when you're trading 2nd round picks for guys like Baertschi and Vey to plug holes in the lineup, that it's time to re-build. Bad trades by a bad GM, period.

Baertschi looked bad out there, but Vey was even worse when he was in the lineup for them. They basically traded two 2nds for Dustin Boyd and Nigel Dawes because there were no better options internally. Think about that for a second.

him scoring 2 goals against the power house Oilers probably wont help either, now he thinks he is a scorer at this level
