Not sure if this has been posted but Spector speculating on twitter that Blues are looking for a D and a F. My own take is that if and when either the Hawks or the Blues pull the trigger, the other will feel desperate.

Great point. If the Flames management intend on holding onto Glencross until the final minutes, it would be great if Vermette was dealt soon so more people are left wondering what they'll do and Glencross looks better and better.

I don't think the Blues would be the team to go for those two, would they? They have one of the best defensive groups in the league and they look set in center with the likes of Backes, Lehtera, Stastny and Ott?

If there was a package to be made with those two involved, my money would be on the Bruins. They need Vermette for Krejci's absence and Yandle is a local Boston boy that would likely resign with them.

Shattenkirk is gone long term after having abdominal surgery earlier in the month, that's where I see Yandle fitting in for them.

Not sure what the timetable is for him, but if it's anything like backlund's surgery...

You always need depth, maybe they view Vermette as an upgrade at the 3rd line C position or as a top 6 winger who can take draws.

Time is starting to run out on the Blues and their core group. It's put up or shut up time for that organization.

Or the 'Yotes will hold Vermette to the bitter end to drive up the price.

That's true. The Blues' really need to go all in this year, because the Kings have made their team better, and the Hawks will shortly. Even the Ducks made themselves better by acquiring Sekac.

The Blues are in a much better position in terms of depth. They could add what they need at a much smaller cost than Chicago. On the other side of that, if the right deal presents itself, they have a lot of chips to trade in. The Blackhawks are looking for impact as opposed to depth, and the cost will hurt more. Blues management is awesome.

And horrible wording by Spector. It looks like Shattenkirk is going from town to town, righting wrongs, and looking for a D-man. Like Kane from Kung-fu.

What if the Flames traded for Vermette?

And then retained and flipped Vermette AND traded Glencross for insane amounts.

How could they go from Lidstrom to ..that? Is this the sports equivalent of losing the partner of your dreams, then rebounding by going out and taking home some low hanging fruit with polar opposite qualities as to not be reminded of what once was?
