LOL, you guys are priceless. A positive review must been paid for? The Globe and Mail is not known for suffering bad movies.
Admit you have pre-judged the movie, and nothing will change your mind about it.

Disagree. I'll admit I've judged the movie based on the trailers and teasers which...is kind of the point of them.
What will change my mind is if the movie is actually any good. But thats going to have to wait until its on TV or some amazing reviews come in.

Did you think Spy was the funniest movie of last year? That's why the review lost credibility for me. If he legitimately thinks it was the funniest movie of the year that's fine but then he has different taste than I do.

Did the Globe and Mail not have 3 extremely similar articles before the reviewers even had their hands on the movie? They clearly have their agenda.

This movie looks terrible.
Just like Point Break remake looked terrible. Just like Total Recall remake looked terrible. Just like the Red Dawn remake looked terrible. Just like almost every remake looks terrible, all women cast or not.
The fact that people feel the way that G&M writer feels makes this one of the dumbest internet fake controversies in a while.

And lo and behold....they were all terrible. Men, women, whatever. Just bad films.

This one actually might turn out well...
http://www.cinemablend.com/news/1522...ncredible-cast
though it is a remake of a remake that had a couple sequels. Will there be any new ideas to be had? Sigh.

The joy of the original Ghostbusters and the Oceans remakes were because you could tell that the actors were there having a good time, it was just fun.

I assume you're not talking about the original Ocean's because that ending was anything but fun.

Oceans Twelve was possibly the most nauseating pretentious piece of #### I've ever had the displeasure of sitting through.
I've never seen a movie where people looked like they were literally getting off on how cool they thought they were.
It was like that Smug Alert episode of South Park where that guy was smelling his own fart out of a wine glass. The guys were so in love with themselves and how cool their group was I was expecting an auto fellatio scene at any moment.

Part of the issue with remakes is that we have seen the original numerous times and know exactly how the movie will play so unlike a new feature there's no surprises or plot twists. IMO most of them are doomed to fail even if they follow the original script of a hit movie to a tee. Personally even if the original cast was magically put together I don't know if I would have an appetite for another Ghostbuster movie.

Even the Proton packs look terrible.
And I've 100% prejudged this but I'm still open to it being good. If the reviews hold up halfway I might even go to the theatre.

Is it ok to prejudge this based on my limited viewership of the other terribly acted tripe these cast members have been in? (At least the actors, and I use that term in its broadest definition, I actually know of)
Based on the other remakes that someone listed above that I had the misfortune to see?
What is the acceptable criteria for me to make my movie going decisions on?

Yeah, I'm going to say Troutman is right and you've prejudged it hard. An amazing review did come in, and this was your reaction.

So clearly, amazing review aren't going to get it done at this point. You weren't even phased by one.
People are being so weird about this movie. Nostalgia overload. The original is another "classic" my dad showed me, and yeah, it's GOOD. Does the sequel look better? No, but this is not an untouchable holy grail thing. Between 1&2 you've got a great movie, but individually they're just good.
Who knows, maybe it's a generational thing. I've grown up with prequels and sequels and remakes being the norm.
You old timers need to get over it already.

Disagree, Ghostbusters is about as an untouchable holy grail as it gets, especially for comedies.

Robert Downey Jr. in Ironman 2. He bought into his character a little too much.
As far as this Ghostbusters movie goes. The trailers have made it look absolutely awful, imo. I can't picture myself going to see it, even if the review sites have it rated higher than I would have expected.

I think Creed was the perfect instance of someone rebooting a franchise while doing perfect justice to the original.

Mad Max: Fury Road too. It can be done. I think it helps that in both instances the original creator was heavily involved.
