This scheduling sucks so bad. Having two games at the same time (in anything other than the third game of the group stage where it's required) is moronic and splits your TV audience. Especially on a Saturday.
Yeah the tournament is quite condensed. World Cup never has 4 matches in a day unless its the 3rd group game

Group F wasn't supposed to be particularly interesting, either. Quite a result/
yeah I was thinking yesterday and since Mexico and Colombia tied each other, not sure where they would find another result and neither would be one of the wildcards.
that's all changed now.

The story of this tournament is quickly becoming horrific officiating, which is a better story, I suppose, than Canada being disorganized to host or poor attendance at all venues.
I am really enjoying this Women's World Cup the last one hooked me and I have been a fan ever since. Columbia was amazing, loved it.
I just hope the officiating gets better as we progress and is not a factor later in the tournament .
I was at the Big O so some notes for anyone interested
Brazil/Spain: There were far more Brazilian supporters in the stand, and they were LOUD. Spain really didn't do much, and Brazil was not in top form either. The match was ok made great by the ruckus Brazilian crowd.
S.Korea/Costa Rica: What an awesome game. A weird thing happened at about the 10 minute mark where anyone who wasn't a Korean supporter decided to support Costa Rica. Ever little thing CR did was wildly cheered by the crowd. And when they tied the game at the end, it really felt like the roof would blow off, it was insanely loud.
Overall, it was one of the best sporting experiences that I ever had. I imagine the atmosphere is the same everywhere so i highly recommend going to catch a game. Attendance was 28,623, which is pretty good for MTL considering neither Canada nor France were involved.

Looks like Wambach is continuing to blame the turf for the US team not scoring more goals. Really? None of the other 23 teams are complaining about the turf...

Yes and if it was on grass, maybe Klingenberg doesn't head away that ball off the line and the Swedes score against them. It's always something with Wambach. She can't leave well enough alone. Ridiculous.
On the topic of the Wambach and her team....
Funny how the second Sundhage says she wouldn't use Wambach as a starter and just as a super sub, Ellis does exactly that. Sundhage gave the Americans so much bulletin board materiel to use against them, but instead, they played right into her hands.

In an article about the Olympic semifinal match against the US, Lauren Sesselmann had a beauty quote about Wambach:
Quote:
Sesselmann: She’s always complaining. If someone tiny brings her down – like Desiree Scott – she’s all [waves hands frantically over head]. And I’m like, dude, you just got taken out by a little girl.
Every time I’m around her, she’s always got something to say. I don’t say anything back. I’m thinking to myself, “Shut up.”
I was by her when she was counting on that play. I wanted to punch her.
Germany's Mittag seems to be dealing with the turf, she scored 4 in Ottawa. 21 goals have been scored in Vancouver through 4 games, including 3 hat tricks (4 if you count the girl who potted two in the wrong net)
I attribute the US scoring woes primarily to a terrible game plan which wastes the majority of their possession, being out-coached vs Sweden, and their best scorer being hurt. Turf is on the list, but it's not near the top.
I just wanted to let it be known that many Americans that regularly follow soccer are also not impressed with Wambach's shenanigans. I'd bet there are a few on the team that feel the same.

One thing that wasn't picked up by any media was during that first US match in Winnipeg (I forgot who they were playing), the ref made a call that the American's didn't like, and the American player called for the foul pulled at the FIFA logo on the ref, pointed at it with her other hand and made a comment and then laughed.
When I saw it I remember thinking "Wow, that doesn't see like something you can do" and figured someone would make a huge deal out of a player pulling on a refs logo and jokingly suggesting corruption. Figured the timing would create uproar over it.
