I get his point. Whether or not the game means anything they still collect a pay check to do the Job they were brought in for.

I feel sorry for whoever gets paired with Wideman this season - he's going to be put in some impossible positions from poor passes.
If the Flames want to compete this year, they have to upgrade their defensive defensemen. Lots of good skating puck movers, but they're still very susceptible to a strong forecheck. I shutter to think what the season opener vs. the Sedin line will look like against this defense.

what are the supposed to do hop the boards and beat somebody's ass...come on that doesn't happen. Neither of those guys can just go after Kane or Ladd.

I'm a huge Backlund fan, but that was not an accidental hit. It was a full two armed shove in the numbers.
I don't think it was malicious so much as a moment of stupidity, but let's call a spade a spade: It was ugly and deserved not only a penalty but a response from Winnipeg

Just heard it on the radio, Wills sure made it sound like it was out of frustration. If that wasn't, the constant after the whistle scrums sure were. You've got nice guy Stajan losing his cool while Grats sits on the bench? Doesn't add up to me.
I'm definitely seeing half of this through anger as I really hate the Jets but surely there's some truth to my nonsensical drunken ramblings. Just hate losing the physical part of a game to a team like that, even in pre season.
Hope it starts up the old rivalry again though, as someone else said.

I understand they can't just jump over the boards.
It was not just Kane and Ladd tho. I love Grats as a player and have defended him countless times. This training camp tho has shown me tho that if ANY player can't play his role they can now be replaced.
I don't want repeats of the incident like between Ference and Stepniak. This was close to escalating to that degree if there had been more time on the clock.
They brought on guys as security and the only guys who actually stepped up are Ferland and Bollig.

Kane is such a loser and will get his. He wants out of Winnipeg and most of the fans want him gone. Cant wait for the payback for all his cheap shots when he comes to Calgary

Go after Kane and Ladd? Absolutely. Not "go after" in a John Scott type of way, but if anyone wants to get chippy they should be reminded to think twice about acting tough. Be it star player or 4th line goon, mess with the team, get a reminder to settle down.

The Ferance Stempniak thing was what was on my mind too. If there was more time in the game things would have gotten ugly.

Exactly. I do respect his code but Its getting old from a guy who likes him a lot. Your security essentially. You don't have to drop the mitts but at least bark at him.
He was in that game vs. The oilers and nothing.
The kids on the farm have shown they can play better and will bite more often. Examples Ferland , Wolf , Rammage and Sieloff.
