That's laughable.

Even their own FA doesn't believe it.

They didn't pay big bucks to see Georgia? Who cares?

Every tournament that welcomes the Irish fans knows what I mean. Best party going.

They are great when it comes to partying and showing up a big international events (to have a party).

Not as good at actually supporting their team on an ongoing basis though.

Pretty much the equivalent of hockey fans who only show up come playoff time to partake in the party.

I can agree with that. Ireland has 4.5 M people and are ranked 54th in the world in football. Usually, they are too small to compete with the elites and there would not be much to get excited about.

lol Do the Irish think that the Germans are going to lose to Georgia?

Top spot is a pipe dream.

Sunday should be fun. I really hope the Polish team doesn't take their foot off the gas.

Not that there is anything wrong with that either. Just not sure I'd call them the best fans in the world.

Best partying fans in the world ... I could probably agree to that.

Drunkest fans in the world counts for something, though I'm not sure what exactly.

Latvia might beat Ireland for drunkest.

Ireland also plays France in Rugby Sunday.

In fairness, the odds of Ireland winning yesterday were infinitesimal and along with the Rugby World Cup going on I can imagine attendance wasnt brilliant.

That's all Troutman was saying. You will never hear Irish people claim to be full on hardcore knowledgeable fans in fact most have the same attitude as Canadians towards soccer and the softness of the game compared to their primary sports.

It's a small nation where soccer (as it is called there) and rugby are a distant 3rd and 4th to Gaelic games.

Soccer and rugby are tv sports to the average Irish person but they WILL go to the big games and party.

Tomorrow will be a good sports day ........ regardless.

It really looks like the Dutch aren't going to make the playoffs

some big teams are going to go out in that, but to not make the playoff is a massive disappointment. Can't imagine Robben and RVP are around in 2018 so that would make them done at international tournaments

1-1 in Warsaw.

If the game is tied at 2 or more goals, Ireland goes through.

Holy crap! Dubious penalty for Ireland straight from the kick off.

Definite high foot but right on the edge of the area.

1-1!!

Another goal and the Poles need 2

2-1 Poland from you know who.

Changes nothing. Ireland still need a 2nd. I'll be surprised if they finish with 11 men,

I have to miss 2nd half. Ireland has to go all out for a goal.

Ugh, the Germans are reverting to type, they get so close and then phone it in. That was a strong German team that mailed in two poor performances in a row.

It makes no sense to me really how bad they have been playing
