That's some pretty weak smack, especially considering you're aiming it at a non-Canadian.
You'd think I had accused the Germans of cheating their way to the world cup or something. Or said that they were lucky or that their players were divers.
Just pointing out an obvious blatant case of homerism that has really hit a raw nerve.
Schmeichel and Kahn watch the last minutes of and discuss the 99 final. Kahn comes across as very likeable, extremely sporting to sit and listen to Schmeichel and learns about Fergie time.
Part 1.
Part 2
Kahn discusses Fergie trying to sign him.
If I had to choose between Schmeichel and De Gea and Kahn and Neuer I'd give it to the Schmeichel and Kahn. All are great, just seemed like the old guys controlled their area more and had bigger presences
Neuer isn't as smart as those two, and in part due to his ridiculous sweeper'esque mistakes, & isn't even the best keeper in the world since the start of this season.
In the end it was Madrid he chose, although he supported Liverpool and admired Messi – something that was cause for great satisfaction in Madrid. Getting a potentially great player is one thing; getting him ahead of Barcelona and Bayern is better yet. This was Odegaard’s decision and he had quite a choice.
“Madrid is the best option for my development,” he said. “This is a dream come true, it’s unbelievable.” Asked the inevitable question – Messi or Ronaldo? – he smiled and said: “Ronaldo so far.”
He has signed a six-year deal. The fee has not been disclosed, with Madrid claiming that it is under €3m (£2.2m) but Norwegian sources say that if simple objectives are met it will be well more than €6m, perhaps even as high as €8m.
Odegaard’s salary has not been revealed either, but some reports suggest as much as €80,000 a week. He will train with the first team and join them for pre-season next summer; in the meantime he will play with Real Madrid’s B team, Castilla, who play in the third tier, the regionalised Segunda División B. But the director of institutional relations, Emilio Butragueño, said: “If Carlo Ancelotti wants to call on him, he is available.”
I initially thought Odegaard (sp?) was the crazy one for choosing RM, thinking that he wouldn't have a chance to crack the first team for quite some time, but it would be pretty difficult to turn down money like that.

yeah, the whole thing has been insane. A 16-year-old making trips to European top clubs where people like Guardiola had to make "a solid impression" on the boy and his entourage, not to mention the money involved ... it's unbelievable, really. Anybody remember Freddy Adu, Bojan Krkic and all the other 16-17 year olds that stood out? Yeah, not all of them exactly became superstars ... I don't blame Odegaard one bit for signing with Real, he'd be stupid not to take that offer. It's just the football world that has gone a bit crazy it seems ...
But I admit I did laugh when I read that Odegaard quote where he said that he watched the likes of Ronaldo, Iniesta and Rooney at 16 and they also had to make the jump to become great players. Very interesting comparisons, I must say. Ronaldo made his debut in the Portuguese league when he was 17, as was Iniesta in Spain. Like Ronaldo, Rooney was 18 when he signed with United. Pretty sure none of those guys signed a 80k contract with the reigning CL champions when they were 16 ...
Funnily enough, I was reading about Freddy Adu the other day (well, looking at his wikipedia page) The guy's career really went downhill. After a 2 year spell with Philadelphia Union, he joined Bahia of Brazil in 2013. He was released 7 months later. He had trials with Blackpool, AZ Almaar and Stabaek, all of whom turned him down. Eventually, he ended up with Serbian club FK Jagodina. He was released from there after 6 months in December, and is currently without a club.
"Six months is a significant amount of time but at least it's a specific ban. At the last Nations Cup, Slim Jdidi, ironically from Tunisia, was suspended indefinitely after a poor showing in his semi-final and he went on to make Fifa's shortlist for the 2014 World Cup."
And the Tunisians accusing CAF of having a bias against them with their representative resigning.
The CAF response? Prove it or apologize or we're banning you from the 2017 ACN.
Which is a lot better than Morocco did who got a $1M fine and ordered to pay 6M sterling damages as well as being banned from the next two tournaments for pulling out of hosting the tournament.
I agree with their reasons. They have a geographical barrier to Ebola, why would they want to invite people over from the very region where it is prevalent?
The final is Sunday between Ghana and Ivory Coast with the 3/4 game on Saturday between DR Congo and Equatorial Guinea.

"I'm certainly not racist and my history as a coach proves that, starting from [Frank] Rijkaard" Sacchi had said at an awards ceremony, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"But looking at the Viareggio tournament I feel like saying that there are too many black players, even in the youth teams.
"Italy has no dignity, no pride. It's not possible that our teams should have 15 foreign players in the squad."
I dont know if I'd classify that last statement as racist.

The 'too many black players' comment is racist, but a lot of countries, England especially, are struggling with home-grown talent and having a lot of foreign players in their squads playing at the highest levels while local talent cant crack the side.
Whats important is that the skin color or race of those home-grown players should be irrelevant.

Yeah okay, I read the rest of the interview and he is really banging the 'too many black players' drum. Thats pretty racist.
I figured he was just concerned that there werent enough Italians on Serie A teams, but he seems fixated that apparently there are too many black Italians for his liking.

Curious if suddenly there were 5 black players on the Canadian World Jr. Hockey team some former coach or someone in Hockey Canada would say something like this.
Evander Kane and PK Subban are seen as pretty brash. There was an argument that Josh Ho Sang was too cocky for the most recent Canadian team.
I'd like to think it would all be ok but I'm not sure.

I dont know. I mean, if they're Canadian who cares what their race is?
PK had an attitude I didnt really like, but thats just who he is, I dont think him being black has anything to do with it.
This is Canada, if someone doesnt like black people or any particular race then they'll just have to go elsewhere. We've got plenty of better reasons to dislike one another such as language preferences, under-utilizing maple syrup on pancakes and failure to hold the door open for strangers.
Filthy door-slammers. They can get the hell out of my country.

It's one thing to say your National squad or domestic teams have too many foreigners in the lineup causing young players to not get a chance or opportunity.
Its another to say that too many black players mean your country is losing it's national pride
