Glendening, Jurco, Ouellet and Sheahan will all likely join up with Grand Rapids for #AHL Calder Cup playoffs.
Some of the responses to that tweet suggest that Glendening would be exposed to waivers if sent down. Not sure if they are right.

Breen & Kanzig on the PP would be an interesting sight!

He's on a ELC contract right now. Wings moved him up and down a few times this year.

That doesn't matter, it's based on games played. The difference between Glendening being waiver eligible and not? 1 game. Had he been scratched this afternoon he would not have exceeded 60 NHL games, but he was dressed and played in his 61st game. Thus he is eligible for waivers should they want to send him down.

To be the best the Heat have to beat their best. I'm ok with that. If they manage to win this series, it'll be the same down the road. Like Drury said, they have to beat Mrazek. Also, donut for 6 on the pp is beating yourself. That can't happen if they expect to move on, let alone win a game.

If this series goes badly for the Heat tonight will be their last home game. Mrs. B and I will be in the "crowd" with another couple of friends cheering on the team, and hoping to see another game in round two!

Go Heat Go!

So all of us watching the webcast tonight should look for the only person in a Flames jersey then?

It wasn't just the PP. It was 2 5-on-3s in the second. Could have ripped the game open and instead gave GR all kinds of confidence, Mzarek too. Gioefykkt they take advantage of the man advantage tonight.

Finding it hard to decide whether to watch this game or San Jose-LA. I think I'll try both! Just have to get the bugs worked out to catch the Heat game.

When it comes to Sven - we need to remember Ryan Johansen was drafted out of the same program one year earlier. At the end of last year, he was being scratched in the AHL playoffs and he's turned out ok.

There's a fair amount of talk that Portland was a bit of a country club atmosphere when Sven/Johansen/Nino were there. They all turned pro and had issues, fell into the doghouse with their NHL teams. Perhaps a boot in the ass is what he needed to meet his potential.

Hmm..interesting. Maybe things came to easy for them at that level, which could explain a lot. Things came too easy for Getzlaf too, although Getz is much bigger and could turn it on easier mostly because of his size, but also supreme talent.

Sven is in a bit of a tough spot. He can't use his size, and more importantly, he needs to learn things won't be handed to him based on his talent alone. I think he is learning that this year playing with and against pros. I think he will be alright. Instant success as a teenager will do things to a teenager. I'm glad he is where he is.

Lineup Changes for Tonight. Poirier is no surprise, he looked understandably green last night.

Lineup changes: Jooris takes Poirier's spot on the top line. Hathaway is in for Gillies. Arsene takes Smith on D.

Almquist (Griffins D-Man injured last night on that Reinhart push) is scheduled for an MRI on Monday back in Grand Rapids. Will not play tonight, they are not sure his injury.

Coaches Comment:

On game last night: No surprise goaltenders stole the show. Shook out how they would see the series, didn't anticipate it to show in Game 1. Thought Orts had a much tougher time. He didn't see the shots that Mrazek did, had long lapses. Both goalies delivered what the league thought they would.

If it happens again tonight: Test tonight is can they withstand what happened and go back and do it mentally. Need to have mental discipline. Need to come back with younger group, be resilient, try to repeat the same game again with a better result. Critical for Heat to score goals on Mrazek.

On top D men going down: Need to manage minutes tonight. Both teams will have a new guy in, but bulk of guys last night carrying the minutes will need to do it tonight. Forwards need to help out the D, play a little quicker and crisper. Forwards left D hanging last night.

On having a better PP: Felt the PP was disappointing. Watched game film from last night and thought they did a better job on tape then they did at live speed. Weren't aggressive in posture. Didn't screen Mrazek. Need to be alot more aggressive, not just passing pucks around. Can't change if guys score, can change manufacturing scoring chances.

On longest OT: That game was the longest game he has been a coach, going back to his IHL days. Found the game fun to watch the guys and to coach. Felt it was a good game to watch.

On OT Winner: D-zone coverage on the sideboards wasn't there. It went through a maze of people and went in. Guy was dumping it in to go off and it happened to go in. Sometimes works that way.

On Griffins team: Played as he expected. Goaltending came as advertised. Someone will break him.
