Hope this isn't serious. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=712566

DETROIT -- The Boston Bruins do not have forward Jarome Iginla in the lineup against the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday at Joe Louis Arena due to a lower-body injury. Iginla, who participated in the Bruins morning skate, was a late scratch and was replaced in the lineup by Jordan Caron, who started on the third line. Loui Eriksson took Iginla's spot at right wing on the top line.

I think 3 years from now he'll sign his retirement deal in Calgary, while the Flames are in the early stages of becoming an emerging powerhouse in the west.

I hope not, no way he should be a top 6 player on this team 3 years from now

Lol where'd u get that from his post?

But on the other hand who would've thought he'd be Boston's #1 forward?

Can't see them putting him on a third or fourth line grinder role at that point in his career

Lanny was hardly a top 6 player when we won the cup, I could see Iggy in a similar role.

You're right healthy scratch in just over a third of the Flames games that year. I doubt Iggy would look for that kind of role but you never know.

Why do you say that?

Three years ago people were saying the same thing. The guy is playing great hockey and is showing no signs of slowing down. 12 straight seasons with 30+ goals now (when the NHL has had full seasons).

In three years Iggy with be 39. Look at Jagr he is 42. The guy is leading the Devils in scoring, and is almost 6 years older than Iginla right now. There is no real reason to think he wont be productive in three years. Goal scorers like Iginla don't come around very often. He is currently 24th all time- if you need any more evidence.

When he gets closer to when he wants to retire, he may look for something like that!

I'd still love to have him come back and wear the Flaming C in any role. I think with Iggy playing for other teams have given him experiences that he never really had before (or at least in a LONG time), and may have brought some perspective when it comes to what he's expected to do. I think he'd be more open to playing in other roles, rather than expecting to be a top line player expecting to be the all star.

I think Iggy would sign a one year contract here as his retirement year, playing on the 2nd/3rd line as a RW. Keep in mind our RW depth isn't that great. If he still plays like this in 3 years, he can very well be on the first line as well. I'd rather have someone else on the top 6 though, so him slotted as a RWer on the third line is fine by me. Probably would get some minutes on the PP as well. I see him extending a contract with Boston for 2 years, especially if they get don't win a cup again.

This is the key point in your post I think. None of us really know.

At 39? He wouldn't be.

3rd line, maybe 2nd if he maintains his production over the next couple years.

I like his chances this year to get the cup, not a sure thing obviously but definitely within the realm of serious possibility.

Maybe it's time for a poll on who wins the cup? STL v BOS final... BOS wins!

Iginla not in line-up again today where Bruins clinched top seed in East with win over Flyers.
Must be nagging enough to sit him down again, but I expect mostly maintenance or precautionary

Sure hope so. Meant to check box score on that game, but hadn't gotten around to it.

I guarantee they're just resting him for the playoffs.

Dude hasnt missed a game due to injury in like 7 years. This is almost certainly precautionary.

Boston are going to be a treat to watch in the playoffs.

Yeah, can't see it being anything serious since he played the game in between. Iggy is going to be a beast come playoffs. Oh, and Erickson fills in for Jarome on the top line and racks up 4 assists... That is a well built team.

I dunno if they are resting him. Kind of hard to look at a guy like Iginla - leading your team in scoring - and say "you're going to rest.

I think there is something there. Hopefully it's only a minor ailment because I'm really looking forward to him in the playoffs.

I look at it the other way; If these games mattered would he be in the lineup? Of course he would.
