For the time being, it looks like you can downgrade. Like HHH mentioned, you do need the IPSW. Here are the instructions and the location of the IPSW file.

Anyone have any opinions on the 5s battery life?

Man, no kidding. That is the worst part about smart phones (Apple or other). I remember my old Nokias and Motorolas that could go many days on one charge.

Even if it would last multiple days I would still charge it every night so they battery isn't cycling from full to dead constantly. I believe it slowly degrades how much of a charge it will hold.

Well your iphone will last many days on one charge if you only use it to make the occasional phone call.
I'm not sure what you'd expect when you stream music over 3g, text, check your email, surf the web on your bluetooth headset.

And I would assume that you're not doing the same things with current smart phones as you did with the Nokia/Motorola back in the day.
It reminds me about this interesting read about how Apple went one way with battery life versus capability while RIM bet the other way:
http://www.theverge.com/2012/2/21/27...ie-lost-empire
RIM designed its phones within limits, and its conservative designs had their appeal. Size and battery life appealed to road warrior professionals using the devices; low bandwidth usage appealed to the people who managed the devices, and to the telecom carriers. Apple ignored RIM's self-imposed limitations, producing an iPhone with less than stellar battery life that (eventually) gobbled up bandwidth. Network utilization was the carriers' problem, not Apple's, and it bet customers would tolerate a short battery life because the phone could do so much.

Uh, yeah guys, I'm aware of the trade off because I'm not ######ed. It doesn't change the fact that it would be nice if a charge lasted many days. I'm sure one day it will.

Got to see the new iOS7 first hand. Apple users have a lot to look forward to.

I'll let you know when I get mine. I'm liking iOS7 so far but there's a little lag on my iphone 4 which is somewhat expected given the outdated hardware.

That's a very reasonable view.
It is amazing the hear all these crazy people complaining about how "Apple is purposefully sabotaging their products through updates in order to force them to upgrade."

Haha, I swear that's true with my 3GS. I usually would've just attributed it to being old (it's almost 3.5 years), but my Wifi was working perfectly until I updated to 6.1.something. Then all of a sudden, Wifi almost never picks up any signals, and if it does see one, it never connects.
Mostly suspicous cause I used Wifi to download the update, and then after the phone reset, no more Wifi .

Works fine on my 4S. Only places it's slower is where they added animation, but not a problem. Not sure about battery life yet but my initial impression is that it may be shorter but I haven't optimized it yet.

Is there anything the Simpsons can't do?
How "The Simpsons" Fixed Apple's iPhone Keyboard
http://www.uproxx.com/tv/2013/09/one...ed-fix-iphone/
Quote:
Every episode of The Simpsons between seasons three and six is a classic, but in the EXTRA classic episode, “Lisa on Ice,” Kearney asks fellow misshapen bully Dolph to take a memo on his Newton, Apple’s ill-fated digital assistant that’s mostly remembered these days in the context of this episode. Dolph writes, “Beat up Martin,” which his Newton translates to, “Eat up Martha,” a far dirtier instruction that I’m only just now understanding.

Quote:
According to a former high-level engineer, one of the top priorities for Scott Forstall, then-senior vice president of iOS software at Apple, was to nail the keyboard. He knew if he couldn’t deliver on the promise of typing, then multitouch, the core method for interaction on the iPhone, would be a failure. Critics, infamously including Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, were loudly proclaiming that the iPhone would be a flop, even before it hit market, because the device lacked a physical keyboard.
“In the hallways [at Apple] and while we were talking about the keyboard, you would always hear the words ‘Eat Up Martha,’” [Nitin Ganatra, Apple's former director of engineering for iOS applications] recalls. “If you heard people talking and they used the words ‘Eat Up Martha,’ it was basically a reference to the fact that we needed to nail the keyboard. We needed to make sure the text input works on this thing, otherwise, ‘Here comes the Eat Up Marthas.’” (Via)

Love iOS7 for most part, but the Safari icon is just plain ugly. So unrefined.
Custom vibrate option, pretty cool even for a gimmick.

It's not crippled or anything but I do notice a little pause here and there.

Airplay seems busted for me under iOS7 on iPhone 5. Streaming from Netflix to AppleTV, and it skips a second every 30 seconds or so, and streaming from Itunes is just constant stuttering. Anyone else experience this?

I updated on my IP4 and Ipad 2 and it surprisingly works pretty smoothly. I thought it would be a bit slow considering the hardware is so old.
In saying that though, wasn't too impressed by the update. Looks childish to me. I guess having an S4 gives me something to compare it to.

I ran into this problem while trying to airplay The Fox song. Some stuff works while others cause an error. I then tried on my original iPad and it worked just fine.
I am getting terrible battery life I hit 20 percent since this morning. normally I make it most of the day

Would be interesting to see official statistics but anecdotal evidence says the Champagne Gold model is overwhelmingly popular.
