Pardon my ignorance, but is this pretty much the sequel to Man of Steel? Or, is it something completely different?
In theory, it is a sequel to Man of Steel. Whether the original plan was to have a Batman v Superman as a sequel is disputed though and how much this movie will connect with the events from Man of Steel is unknown.

LOL, you're on an internet forum posting in a thread about a comic book movie that's won't even be out for two years - to complain about and name call people excited about the project.

Zach Snyder calls in to a local Detroit radio station in defense of Aquaman on his way to the Batman v Superman set:
Quote:
“You guys were disparaging — a little bit — Aquaman … just a teensy [...] I don’t want to, like, giving anything away about the movie or anything like that, but Aquaman has some cool abilities that I think people are, like, ‘Oh, what? Does he talk to animals, because that seems like what he does, or fish, or whatever?’ Snyder said. “Y’know, the cool thing is that with Aquaman, his trident — people don’t realize this — that could actually cut the flesh of Superman, if they came in contact. That’s a thing that’s in the canon. And he’s super-strong, because of course, he can exist at these super-deep depths, so when he comes up here it’s like he’s crazy strong.
“But, anyway,” he continued, “not to say he’s in my movie, or anything like that, he’s just pretty badass — he has the potential to be badass. That’s all I’m saying.”
Yes, Zack, that’s all you’re saying. TheWrap confirmed it was indeed Snyder calling. You can listen to the exchange here.

With the Nolan Batman, and the previous Man of Steel, it looks they want a more muted, darker image then what Marvel is doing... I actually the "darker" image myself
Because #### fun, amirite?

This was the biggest difference between Man of Steel and any of the Marvel movies, it just wasn't any fun, which should be a cardinal sin for any comic book movie. Even when Marvel goes serious in Captain America 2, they still throw in the odd joke and good character banter. Nolan was able to pull this off as well with his Batman series, they were as dark as comic book movies get but they still had an element of fun there. But I can't remember a single joke or scene that caused me to crack a smile in Man of Steel, and if that's the route their going for with SvB then I don't think it'll work
The only joke that I remember is when Green Lantern's girlfriend calls Superman 'hot' at the end. I also had to watch the whole movie a second time in order to really enjoy it. Once I realized...
1) Zod is the hero
2) Jor-El is the villain
3) The suit Superman was wearing wasn't really intended for him, but is perhaps form fitting to any member of his family, eliminating an annoying plot hole (at least in my mind)
4) A constant evil Jor-Elian genes vs. good Kansasian upbringing internal battle allowing him to save the planet whist also watching thousands die around him and slaughtering his enemy.
5) Lois Lane's sassiness will increase once her coffee intake reaches Betty Ford levels, around movie 3.
Suddenly Man of Steel was very watchable. Also, DC does have some very witty characters, which look like they won't be appearing in SvB. So prepare for a boatload of grimness.
I have no idea why they are calling her Carrie Farris in the imdb credits, unless this is supposed to be Carol's sister or something...
I laughed a few times during Man of Steel, any part involving the name Superman was funny and again the part at the end where she calls him hot and the general rolls his eyes.. girls love Henry.
Aquaman is an interesting character, besides Batman, he is the only hero in the DCU that I actually find scary. He has so much rage and a short fuse.. if they are casting Jason Momoa as Aquman then I imagine they will go with the most savage version we have seen:
He will be a lunatic essentially who is pissed off at the World Engine messing up his oceans and blames Superman. Once people see him go toe to toe with Supes that will give him some 'street cred'.
He's also got an ace in the hole if all else fails.. he is a telepath who has in the past taken control of other humans or given them 'suggestions' similar to what Professor X does, but just not on that level:
But the biggest problem with Aquaman is he just looks like such a wiener, how do you take this guys seriously? This is a huge hurdle for DC to pass, I hope they can do it but I really have my doubts.. They need to do what Marvel did with Hawkman and just totally re do the costume, get rid of the stupid orange. I still have trouble taking Cap seriously in his costume, lol.. but you just kind of roll with it.
I am hoping he is just in an after credits scene where they show him coming after Superman leading into the JLA movie.. because this is getting really busy now.

That's the biggest thing that worries me about where DC is headed. They take their characters a little too seriously. Now that DC kinda has a direction and some guidance, they are attracting some quality people to the fold. I think we are going to get some pretty decent movies. But if early promotional stuff on BvS is any indication, its going to be another gritty sordid affair.
Is it too much to ask to make a DC movie thats a little fun?
I remember one of the head writers for DC making the comment in a MoS presser that Superman is such an iconic character that in his publication history he is written in a way that reflects the times in which they are living. I think MoS is kinda written that way. But is that really necessary? Superman is a silly character. Make him fun.
While I enjoyed MoS, I was semi confused by it. All of the trailers leading up to it, I thought nailed it. "You will give the people an ideal to strive towards, they will race behind you, they will stumble they will fall. But in time they will join you in the Sun. In time you will help them accomplish wonders." ......Then in the movie he destroys half a city and kills a dude.

I always thought that the whole point of Superman was that he was the most powerful being on Earth, but his strong moral code reined him in so that he wasn't an absolute despot. I'm waiting to see where they go with things, but Superman is kind of coming across as a bad guy who needs to be redeemed at this point. He's literally responsible for killing thousands of people and the genocide of the last members of his own race. I think that Christopher Reeve would have figured a way out of that.
Also, I'm avoiding Green Arrow on tv for the exact reason that I don't trust them to leave in the humour. Green Lantern's jokes were written by an 11 year old for the big screen, and I'm terrified of they've done to GA. Won't watch Flash until I'm convinced it's not "Dark Flash from the Depths of Grimville". Aquaman is fine dark.
