Can't possibly say that Minnesota is taking them lightly. Anaheim maybe, but Detroit and Minnesota no way.

Drafting 2-3 spots lower is not a significant determining factor in how good the player will be. I'd rather have a TEAM of quality players than one really great one. We had that for years here...how well did that work out?

I have a serious bi-polar disorder when it comes to this team.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the net benefit of $196 Million Dollars. A team getting manhandled by a bunch of children in their first pro game.
This is a team that is fighting for a playoff spot.

It'd be hilarious to see the Wild miss the playoffs after they sold their soul for Pominville

Good skaters or even great skaters (Bouwmeester ) who constantly are not as good as the players they play against will not win games.
|
You just took a player who has a grand total of *2* NHL games, and used his +/- to try to justify that he is an NHL calibre player.
You should feel shame.
If you want to use stats, hey look, Ben Hanowski has the 2nd worst corsi/60 of any Flames player. That's weird for a guy who's a legit player, eh?

When we beat the Yotes I thought to myself, it's just 1 win, no biggy...we will still pick high.
When we beat the Wings, I started getting worried.
Now the Ducks...then this? We were suppose to lose these games! It's okay if we play well, but we really haven't today. Such a weird emotional state to be in.
Is going into next season with more confidence really worth losing a potential star, in one of the most stacked drafts for a long time? I don't know.

I don't understand some of you, are you expecting the Flames to come into the game and tank/lose? They are getting paid to entertain and win.

Anyone that wants to tank should go cheer for the Oilers

This team is garbage. A bunch of kids excited to play their first NHL hockey with no pressure on them against teams that have totally taken the Flames for granted. This will be nothing like next season when there's pressure on.
This team is hot garbage plain and simple and now they are screwing themselves out of getting better.

You're last paragraph summed up why you shouldn't worry about the rest.
This draft is top heavy. Hell if the Oilers end up in the top 8 somehow they'll get a player better then their last two 1st overall picks.

I don't care if we don't draft first overall or top three or five. Would it be nice? Sure. But I don't want to be the Oilers and sucking year after year with all these high picks. there is more than one way to build a winner and the example set up north is not a great one.
Smart draft picks and smart developing. No need to rush.

There is a team in Florida I think you might like being a fan of better, where the losses flow in like water, night after night
