WBZ-TV is reporting that just about every federal agency (FBI, ATF, DHS) and bomb squad is serving search warrant in Revere, Mass.
Looks like they may have someone in mind for this atrocity.

When my daughter's foot was torn wide open, our friends said she just looked at them and said "Something is very wrong and you need to take me to the hospital now." They said at first, they were more freaked out than she was. It was the shock though.
Once they started moving her, it was another story. That guy though? My daughter's level of shock multiplied by 100,000. Hyper/hyposomething shock in his case, I imagine. Can't recall the exact term.

Also did you just spell Iraq with a c?

Its not that hard to get C-4 or a knock off equivalent, there are factories in China, Pakistan, India and Eastern Europe that pump out the stuff by the ton.
You get it the same way that you get AK-47's in the States, it gets smuggled in on a boat.
Way easier and more stable then using home mixed fertilizer based chemicals.
All you need is an electrical charge.
The explosion did look "dirty" though.

As such expect it wont be Al Queda but some home grown nutter, they may claim to be the Black Panther Islamic Revoltionary Front or the like but the whole thing seems way to random and amatuar, I see Al Queda as more likely to use suicide bombers strapped up with C4 (as the suicide aspect really rattles us in the west) and the blast would aim to kill hundreds.
It also strikes me that Boston is fairly close to Sandy Hook so it may turn out to be some wack job punishing those godless north easterners for gun control.
|
I would argue with your theory since Al Queda is less about being an organization and more about being a bank, a training center and a phone book for loosely linked cells that in recent years has pretty well franchised its name.
at this point they'll provide you with funding, some training and rudimentary planning assistance and cut you loose.
I think there's a legend out there about the sophistication of bomb making and materials. Basically a 10 year old who can buy the materials and read a wiring diagram can build a half way competent bomb using a cell phone and some batteries and of course bomb material.
Buying explosives illegally is not that difficult, a lot of nations make chemical explosive knockoffs and cell it on the side for hard currency, or workers will accidentally miscount inventory.
I don't know if its a Muslim event, but I'm willing to bet that whatever group it is it is homegrown to the States. Al Queda doesn't need to smuggle operatives into target countries anymore.
It could just as well be a radical right militia group, or a white supremacy group.
I guessed wrong, I said earlier that I didn't think that this weapon had a fragmentation element because the casualty count was fairly low, looks like I was wrong and the low casualty count is a fortunate event even though 3 people are dead and up to 100 wounded.
Lots of stories of bravery today.

Hypovolemic shock is what I'd guess, considering all the blood he's probably lost.

There was a Meme circulating through Facebook of one of the victims who had both his legs blown off with the quote "What it feels like when you chew Five gum" What kind of jam tard thinks this kind of crap is funny? I hope his name gets circulated around and gets tarred and feathered for such a classless act.

Seeing his face is possibly more haunting than seeing the wounds.
He looks young. Cant imagine what he will go through in the coming weeks. Heres hoping he comes to terms with the cards he has been dealt and does some great things in spite of this.

From what I remember (after blasting in the patch for several summers) is that C4 requires an explosive charge/shock, not electric charge. Perhaps a serious electric charge would work, but for a guaranteed result you use a blasting cap. A blasting cap is set off with an electric charge and a cell phone can be modified to create that charge. We were able to rig simple walkee talkees to get it done, if required.
We were always careful of a spark, but it was the blasting cap itself that would certainly blow it up. The blasting caps were EXTREMELY dangerous and electricity from your hands could set them off, or so we thought. C4 and the variations were always easy to handle. I have seen fools light it on fire and throw it around.
I do remember a C4 mag going missing a number of years ago here in Alberta, I don't know if it was ever located. I am pretty sure C4 is available if the money is there, and the blasting caps must be even easier to get. Whatever route drugs get into Canada must also be a route for assorted explosives.
Based on the damage done, I can only guess the bomber had no chance to tamp the bomb resulting in a weaker explosion. I actually can't say what I think happened since I don't want to watch the footage (but I understand the bombs fortunately caused less damage than other types known to be used).
Hopefully they catch whoever did this quickly.

Sorry, mispoke, an electrically fired primary charge.
C4 itself is very stable, you can light it on fire and it will just burn. But I never wore a watch around the stuff nor around any kind of artillery ammo.
Most of the C4 type explosives in terrorist hands were made in Asia.
It could have been a poor quality knockoff. I think its too small for a fertillizer bomb.
It takes a psycho to pack a bomb with ball bearings and casually put it in the middle of a civillian area.
Maybe its the drinking most of the night talking, but I hope they catch the guy or guys that did this, go to the hardware store and buy some nice sturdy rope and kick the chairs out.

I think whoever is responsible for this should be put down hard. It's a cowardly disgusting attack on innocents.
