Giordano (Retain 50% of salary and cap hit)
Goalie from Blues (Forgot his name)

John Gaudreau

Yes, I would make that deal to secure Elias Lindholm!

MacKinnon - Lindholm sets us up for the next 10 years - (ala Sakic - Forsberg)
You don't trade Gaudreau. He could potentially be as good as a top 10 pick in this draft.

If the Flames want to get another top 5 pick I would offer the Pitts 1st, Stl 1st, Backlund, Glencross/Giordano, 3rd rounder

You've got to go with the Franchise centre. They are so rare and difficult to get it seems like a no-brainer.
I've seen him listed a lot as a RW. Can anyone confirm if he projects as a C or RW? Iginla was listed as a C in junior if I recall correctly.

No one is actually going to trade for Bryzgalov's ridiculous contract. The Flyers will have to buy him out if they want to be rid of him.

he certainly plays the center position for the Mooseheads; in addition to being a big point producer, he's a very good faceoff man, winning ~56% of draws (~60% in the Q playoffs)

I think we need to stop dreaming about picking twice in the top 5.
I hope the Flames pick first overall and draft Seth Jones.

Then ship him off for Duchene and ROR, win win.

Giordano is overrated (In my opinion) and I'm still not completely sold on Gaudreau (I will be crucified for saying this, I know).

Elias Lindholm would be a 2nd overall pick in any other draft IMO.
Draft picks are overrated, especially just before the draft.

Though it probably wouldn't happen, if the flames were to pick twice in the top 7, then our own first from 2014 would need to be involved, none of this 20-30 selection non-sense, the other team would want our 2014 1st as it will be a much better pick than the Pitt or St. Louis picks will be. Will probably be another top 5 pick next year, that's the only way a team will give us a top 7 pick this year.

I say top 7 because once we pick either MacKinnon, Drouin or Jones, you've got Barkov, Nishushkin, Lindholm and Monohan all left.

Very risky. I would say at worst the flames will be picking 5th in 2014. I really think they will be picking in the top 2 in 2014, unless they go the UFA route this summer, which i don't want them to do.

The 14th place team in the west that just got hammered 8-2 at home by its provincial rivals while having TWO players it drafted itself in the lineup isn't allowed to make that statement.

Even though the idea sounds nice, getting two picks in the top 10(let alone top 7) is going to be incredibly tough. Consider what it would take for us to trade our pick, and ask yourselves if we have similar assets to part with. We don't have the required assets to get another top pick, and the price will be absurd. I sure as hell wouldn't move down to 16/low 20s + a Giordano in this draft.

What about trading 2 firsts (STL, PIT) to St. Louis for Berglund? He's a HUGE, young RFA center. St. Louis might be in a jam to sign all their RFAs, especially with Bouwmeester's 6.8million on the payroll now.

We might have to add something, but I think I would make that move. Then with our pick (likely top 5... maybe top 3) pick up another center (Mackinnon, Monahan, Barkov, Lindholm, etc...).

If we could come out of the draft with Berglund and one of the above mentioned centers, we'd be sitting pretty.

I don't think it would take two first rounders. Returning their own first and trading a third(which we can hopefully pick up) would do it. If we offersheeted him that's what the return would be for STL, so I think they would take something like that.

I think that would be the dream scenario if Colorado picked #3 and we had the first. You could probably get a second round this year and a first next year (as a minimum) to swap places and you are still guaranteed one of the centres. Those picks could would give you some flexibility. You could move the STL, PITT first and COL second to move way up or move the PITT and COL picks to have a couple picks in the 15-20 area.

I hate this argument, not necessarilly the way you used it but when anybody mentioned it about the Flames in the past.

As if Giordano isn't basically the same thing as a Flames draft pick, same with Horak, same with Iggy and Regher when they were here.

So instead of two players it drafted, it's really Gio, Horak, Backlund, Brodie, and kind of Begin

Drafting a kid at 18 is much more difficult than picking up someone like Giordano who is much farther ahead in his development curve. Guys like Giordano and Horak were not developed by the Flames, and that's where this organization has done so poorly over the years.

If Feaster went out and acquired Mikeal Granlund does that mean we drafted him? No, because anyone can see he's developed very well(which you couldn't tell at the time of the draft).

I wonder who the flames take with #1 if they get it? I think management knows they have not had a #1 C in 18 years and MacKinnon is close to a sure thing. Feaster has chased Richards, and O'Rielly so far this is a great chance to get that top C

Seems like Jones is the consensus top pick and Feaster recently said he wanted to build from the back end out. With Bouw gone there is no longer a top minute munching Dman on the roster. Personally I really want MacKinnon and hope the flames get him one way or another

I would be disappointed if they picked Jones over MacKinnon.
