Iginla has usually played his best hockey in the playoffs. Maybe a bad game or two, but in general those teams lost because they weren't good enough.

He can't lead by example now and I put the blame on Flames owners and management. We should have someone ready to fill the role Iginla has assumed for many years but we don't. It's unfair to expect him to lead in points and goals when his best years are behind him.
It's a sad way to treat your face of the franchise.

Fully agree that past management screwed this up badly for Iggy. However that is no reason to keep him as captain going forward. 2 wrongs do not make a right.

WTF is Calgary "well on its way" to exactly? Atleast Columbus had the balls to trade Nash and not cling on to this false sense of hope.
Iggy/Kipper are not going to be around much longer and the farm is fairly bleak, unless you are building a team through FA you will have a core of Baertshi and Gadreau?

I think "wrong leader" is a fair question to ask or issue to debate.
Accepting for the sake of discussion that he is the wrong leader - and to be clear i think he is the right leader - the issue is that there ought to be a young guy or three to transition leadership of the team to. There is no one with that character and skill set to give it to. There is no Brendan Morrow to iginla's Mike Modano. There is no Sister to iginla's Naslund.
That albatross goes to our GMs, not Iginla. Trading Iginla does not change the fact that we lack captain material in our young skill players at the moment.

Columbus did not want to trade Nash. Nash demanded a trade and it was a public disaster for the franchise.

Then we don't name a captain after he's gone; but his leadership at the moment isn't exactly forestalling the plunge to the bottom five in the league. So we don't have a captain next year. It happens. But someone will step up; it's the nature of sports.

What could Cervenka have said that was that funny when losing 5-1?

"Anybody want a peanut?"
I understand not liking it when guys look like they're yukking it up when they're getting hammered, but think how uncomfortable that must be for them. The joke's a way to diffuse some tension and prevent guys from wanting to cut their wrists just to get off the bench, it's not an indicator of them being happy with the result.

Whether he demanded it or not it makes no difference it was done. Iggy wont demand a trade so the team has to make the tough decisions that will benefit the franchise instead of just sitting on their hands waiting for a miracle.

Either which way, this is going to be a tough dose for fans, the team and mostly Iginla. Nobody is gonna leave extra's on the table. It should be a fair deal.
He's earned his brand loyalty and will be welcome always in Calgary and at the Saddledome and Futuredome.
Even if he is not traded there is something to be appreciated in that.

It made a huge difference in that Columbus wasn't able to get as much as they wanted for Nash. Once a player goes public with his trade demands it puts the team GM in a tough spot by giving the other GM's in the league the upper hand.

I prefer Tazza in Bridgeland (chicken or beef shawarma only) or the lamb shawarma at Shawarma Knights (add sweet donair sauce.) The donair at Shawarma Knights is pretty good too.
Jimmy's is too saucy and something else is wrong with it. I don't feel good after eating it. Not impressed.

The only thing keeping a large number of Flame fans from hanging themselves tonight is the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel: Donairs. Onomnomnom. Seriously though.. it's pretty bad when you gotta drive 25+ minutes to go stuff your face just so you can forget how bad the current situation is. Ayeyaya.

A little OT but not sure what Bosh and LeBron did that was so bad. They seem to be exactly like Iginla up to this point in that they played hard and gave it all to bad teams with awful management. They then left when they became FA's after both re-signing the first time they had a chance to bolt.
If you are going to talk about the garbage treatment that Iginla is supposedly getting not sure why saying garbage about other guys helps your argument.
