Part choke by Boston, part LeBron going off, what a wild game in Boston, Heat move it to 23 in a row.

Wow, MIA came back from 27 down to extend the streak to 24. The conspiracy theorist in me says Stern has something to do with it for his swan song. But this is impressive.

26 games now. 7 away from matching the all-time record. Can they do it?

Nope, their streak will end next Sunday in San Antonino. That would make it 29 games when and if they lose next Sunday.

Chances of any team making it 7 straight are not great.
If they get past the Spurs, all that stands between win 33 are NYC, CHA and PHI.

Are the Heat wearing themselves out trying to beat the win streak? Even Bosh admitted that fatique is a problem now.

Since they have basically already clinched first they can take off as many games as needed to rest up before play-offs. Plus their 1st round will be a cake walk if they need extra rest as well.

MIA will still need to get the overall No. 1 seeding to sew up home court throughout the playoff. They are 3 games up on SA and 5 games up on OKC.
Their potential first round foes are likely the Bucks which should be a cake walk for them.

3 games is a big difference essentially that means they have 3 games to lose in their final 12 games and SA has to go unbeaten to have a chance at 1st overall seed.
Not happening.

I think Miami loses one of the next two to either Chicago or the streak stoppers themselves, the Hornets (who just stopped Denver's at 15). If not those two I expect them to win 34 in a row and obviously intentionally lose the next game.

If and when the streak reaches 34, would MIA shut themselves down or would they want to build an even longer streak for the record book? That's an interesting question.
For me personally, the Lakers 33 winning streak isn't as monumental the DiMaggio hitting streak or the 72 Dolphins winning streak for some reasons.
A lot of teams can win 15-16 games in a roll so a 33 game winning streak is just two 15-16 put together. Not to say it's not impressive but that's how I see it.

Miami's winning streak is over. Chicago wins and they do it without their two best players in Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.

Impressive streak, better to have it end now and get a few more losses out of the system before the playoffs. Ultimately the streak isn't as important without the title.

27 games is still incredible. Strange how both Miami and Iggy's streak end on the same day.

Apparently the Heat went hard last night in Chicago, according to what I've seen on Twitter

Streak is not as important as championship. The 72 Lakers 33 win streak was before the ABA and NBA merger, before the salary cap implementation so it was easier to build a better team.
It's better to secure the overall No. 1 seeding and then shut the key MIA guys down for the playoffs.

Rigged? No that's too strong a word, and is too difficult to pull off. Manipulated? Absolutely 100%. NBA referees can impact and manipulate the outcomes more than refs in any other sport. They can literally award or take away points, and if you've watched more than say 1 NBA game you can see it happens all the time. Stern made the decision long ago that for the NBA to succeed its about stars, not teams. Why the Lakers need to make the playoffs to get humiliated by either San Antonio or OKC I don't really know, but the NBA clearly values 4 or 5 Laker playoff games for ratings over say 4 or 5 Utah Jazz games, because one team is full of stars in a massive media market and the other's fan base can't even drink.
