Well, Kamloops is a good team. I don't think anybody believed at the start of the series that it would be a sweep. They were going to have their push sooner or later.

I'm interested to see the fall out from this game. A couple suspension worthy hits imo and the one on Rattie looked borderline. Always hard to tell live, but looked bad

I wonder if Sportsnet will pick up the Portland-Kamloops game on Friday since the Oil-Wheat series ended?

EDIT: ^^^ Great minds think alike.

Did it look like a concussion for Rattie?

He right away put his hands under his visor and started rubbing his eyes. He looked like he was rubbing his temples too. A few people around me were guessing shoulder, but it looked like a concussion to me

Edit:

"@gdrinnan: Port Rattie left game in 1st after taking hit from Lipon. Apparent back injury. Not back for 2nd."

Portland asking for supplementary discipline for two hits last night.

" In Kamloops, the Blazers scored the game’s last five goals and beat the Portland Winterhawks, 5-4. . . . The Winterhawks, who lead the series 3-1, led 4-0 at 10:58 of the first period. . . . Game 5 is to be played in Portland’s Rose Garden on Saturday. . . . Kamloops F Dylan Willick broke a 4-4 tie with a PP goal at 7:37 of the third period. . . . Kamloops F Brendan Ranford had a goal and two assists, including a faceoff win that led to Willick’s winner. . . . Portland F Ty Rattie left the game 12 minutes into the first period after taking a heavy hit from Kamloops F J.C. Lipon. He was favouring his back as he left the bench and went to the dressing room. He never did return to the game. . . . Kamloops G Cam Lanigan gave up four goals on eight shots but then stopped the last 23 shots he faced. . . . Portland G Mac Carruth turned aside 29 shots. . . . Kamloops was 2-5 on the PP; Portland was 0-5. . . . After the game, the Portland coaching staff was contemplating asking the WHL office for supplemental discipline for two checks delivered by Kamloops players."

Game 5 in Portland, Saturday night, the Blazers lead 3-1 early in the Second Period.

Portland just scored after falling down 3-0. No points for the Baertschi-Rattie line.

Ouch. Looks like a terrible night for Baertschi and the Winterhawks. 7-2 loss, Sven 0 points -3. Really hope they can pull through

Wow, I hope they take this series still. I know Kamloops is a good team but it would be a pretty epic collapse.

I guess maybe Sven doesnt stir the drink all by himself like some had thought. A lot of ratties goals in the highlights are snipes not open net gifts like everyone says. (still a big Sven fan and its only 2 games against a good team)

Their powerplay became instantly terrible after Rattie went down on Wednesday. The trouble was everyone was looking for someone to pass to, and no one was in positions to shoot. The demoralization if losing your top scorer has got to weigh on them too

Here are the highlights of the game

http://winterhawks.com/video/index/i...65fc2b1e129046

I only saw one goal against that I'd say Baertchi could be at fault for (last one). I didn't see him in the video at all except for that goal against though so I'm not sure which other goals against he was on for. It looks like Rattie and Baertchi played on separate lines.

To me, their goal tending is really why the lost the game. Portland out shot Kamloops 36 to 32 and both Winterhawks goals were good goals. Many of the ones against Portland were weak.

Carruth is the Jose Three-or-more of the WHL. He's going to be their weak link no matter what happens.

Wouldnt it be better to have Portland lose and move Baertschi up for the Heat's playoff's?

Silly Question, but let's say he is eligable and plays is their a risk of burning any of his year 1 of his ELC?

No, the heat would sign him to an ATO (amature try-out).

I would like to see the Blazers move on and Sven play AHL playoff hockey.

Are 19 year olds allowed to play on a ATO in the AHL?
