So what's the outlook on iPad 2s? Have they dropped in price? The upgraded features don't seem important to me so I though I'd buy an old one at a discount if that's possible.

They make around $150 for each sold. At least they did for the iPad 2. $450 million in 4 days isn't too bad.

WOW! Apparently that 3 million does NOT even include preorders. And they're opening up sales in more 24 countries in a few days. First single day sales of this model probably outsold cumulative "shipped" numbers for most other tablets - crazy.

I did over the phone, was upstairs when she came my mom received it. She had the nerve to as her if we called to check where package is.

So I am taking the family to Florida in 3 weeks and figured using an iPad for the kid to watch movies on the plane is as good an excuse as any to pick on of these up. So, the question from an Apple noob is - Can the new iPad support mkv playback natively, and if not, is there an app that does it or am I converting them to another format?

Also, most of my movies are in 720p. i assume that would look great on the retina display? What if it's just 480i?

Download an app called AVPlayer HD and it handles hd content like a champ. (Mkv etc). Looks amazing in retina!

Amazed they actually brought it.

Then when I turned it on amazing display. Can't believe how goody his device is, I was totally out too lunch on what it could do.

I can't put this thing down. So much more responsive than my first generation iPad.

I used to spend a lot more time using my work computer (a MacBook pro) at home, but for the last couple days it's been all iPad all the time.

Same here - it's so shockingly much faster than an iPad1. I wonder though - if anyone here upgraded from an iPad 2 to the iPad, does the fluidity of the unit feel the same? Were iPad 2 users always enjoying this kind of performance?

For the most part yes. iPad 2 was pretty zippy. This is a minimal performance boost but worth it for the retina screen IMO

Only works in "America" so make sure your unblock-us subscription is up to date. And it isn't really converting it is just an app you install. Then you get best of both worlds for 5 bucks a month!
