Dancevic made the Tallahasee final but hurt his back after the 1st set and had to retire. Still he gets his ranking up to around 105.

Also Tennis Canada has made some funny Milos commercials!

Been behind in my tennis updates.

Raonic lost 1st Round in the Monte Carlo 1000.
Nadal won Monte Carlo for the EIGHTH consecutive year, crushing Djokovic 63 61 in the final.

Raonic won his First Round today at the Barcelona 500.

The draw is quite open for him.

Easy 2nd round.. possible Almagro in the Round of 16 and Murray in the Quarters

I have a question about rankings (I'm sure GirlySports can answer)

Why does Milos' Monte Carlo points not count in his rankings? is it because he had to withdraw?

i'm thinking from this link, showing the Monte Carlo as a non-countable tournament worth 10 points for being in the Round of 64. Why would it be a non-countable?

aha because not every tournament counts, only the best 18

For a top 30 player this is the criteria

4 Grand Slams
8 Mandatory 1000 Touraments
Best 4 500 Tournaments
Best 2 other tournaments

His lowest optional score is Halle 45. So any tournament he plays where he gets points less than 45, it will be non-countable. Remember it's a rolling calendar so tournaments fall off after 52 weeks. That Estoril result will fall off on Monday.

BUT He beat Almagro this morning!!!!! So he's got at least 90 points for making the quarterfinals. So at the moment one 90 point result will replace another one and he will remain at 1335 points.

If for example he had lost first round in Barcelona and got 0 points, the Estoril 90 points would fall off and the Tokyo 45 points would move from non-countable to countable to fill in the gap and he would have lost 45 points. Non-countable results are like insurance.

So unless Milos has a really crappy year, that 10 points should never count in his rankings. In fact he need to do better in 500 tournaments to try and bump those 90s and 45s off his list. He shouldn't be playing in 250s at all the rest of the year.

Atta boy, Raonic! That's his first win against the Big Four: 6-4, 7-6(3) over Murray. His first set was amazing.

I was expecting the match to be on TV when I woke up, but apparently it's over. Looks like Milos lost 7-6, 7-6.

Good for Milos anyway, not surprised he ended up losing to a top euro clay rat but it was a damned good showing. If he can just stay injury free for more than 4 weeks now it seems like he's top 15 bound.

Vasek Pospisil and Peter Polansky both went 3 rounds at a challenger before losing in the quarters this week. Will pick up a few points, not sure what if anything it'll do for their rankings.

Vasek is up to 97 now and is starting to edge into contention for an Olympic spot (top 64 after injuries), plus most weeks in the main ATP events there are 56-84 spots in main draws so he's getting close to becoming a regular on tour for a bit.

Unfortunately I think we saw the worst of his game at Davis Cup in Vancouver but nice to see he's on the rebound a little bit.

Madrid 1000

Milos gets Nalbandian first round and if he gets past that, it's Mr. Federer next.

Everyone done complaining about the blue clay yet? Yeah it's gimmicky, we get it, can all you players at least get some matches on it before resuming with the whining? You'd think the tourney sponsors were forcing them to put corporate ads on their clothes and racquet strings.

Milos is 2nd up on the 2nd court. So we're looking at around 5am mountain. Not sure if it'll be televised.

Another nice win Nalbandian is no pushover, too bad about the draw though, hope he gives Fed a run for his money again.
