Morning show is great in my opinion. Can't handle the afternoon show with Bryn but I rarely listen to that anyway. Most disappointing is that the quality of the pre and post game shows has totally fallen off a cliff with Bryn hosting.

Sportsnet is just terrible. Most everyone on there is only there because they can't find other jobs. If flames games weren't on there I wouldn't watch it at all

Agreed.
In face I don't think I've watched The Score in 6 years. Is that channel still in existence?

Bryn is horrible, it's painful.
I can't listen anymore, which is sad, cause Boomer and Kerr (who I hate on play by play) were enjoyable.
Mornings are good, waaaay better than with Richards.
The only redeeming jewel in the Sportsnet crown is Sportsnet World, HD rugby, love it.

I strictly listen to the Fan590 in the afternoons. Fan960 is absolutely brutal. I gave them a chance and like pretty much everyone else, I can't listen to them anymore.
edit.. I do however like the morning show. Walker, Boomer and Rhett at least add some intelligence and are interesting to listen to.

Over the internet? I haven't because radio isn't something I actively seek unless I'm at my desk or in my car. I did hear that it hasn't fared that well in Toronto vs Rogers.

I don't miss Richards at all. Loved him when he got here, but he started to get annoying, and really didn't bring any real insight into his sports talk. He had good guests, but the morning guys have a good line up of regulars now as well.
As for the afternoon show, I hate to pile onto the guy, but Brynn is just not my cup of tea. He is wishy-washy on his opinions, and when he does take a stand, he is so far out in left field (standing by himself), you almost feel sorry for him. Kerr was a mile better than Brynn.

Kerr's awfulness as a PBP man has caused many to forget that he's actually an excellent broadcaster. He did an amazing job as the host of the Flames broadcasts, and he and Boomer were a better than average tandem in the afternoons. Boomer may not have been Joe Sports, but my god the Fan four years ago is HBO Sunday night-quality compared to what it has become.
Steinberg is a nice guy and he tries, but much like Loubo, when the biggest part of your job is your voice, you're playing from behind when you've got the pipes these guys do. You've gotta bring an excess amount of knowledge, information and entertainment to make up for your handicap. Pat doesn't do that, but he's surviving based on being young/willing to work for nothing and appearing to be a genius next to the expired light-bulb that is Brynn.
The Fan should seriously consider sacking up and moving over to FM; Radio is dying as is, younger audiences rarely if ever flip to the AM dial, and FM would give the listenership a boost and allow them to hire good sportscasters. It would never happen, but it probably should.

Yeah I disgree with a lot of that. Richards had really good guests, he was a great interviewer and he knew a lot about of sports other than Hockey. He was lights years ahead of what we have now. The morning guys now are all about trying to maximize their inside jokes.

I disagree with this too. Kerr was actually pretty rude. Talked over people, cut them off mid-answer when he understood what they were trying to get at, regardless if the listener did and obviously Overtime had become a disaster. Don't really miss Kerr at all on the radio.

To be fair to the morning guys, Kelly Kirsch has done a horrible job putting his people in positions to succeed.

@-Nik
I agree that Kerr could be rude, especially during his last year on Overtime... He really seemed like he had no more patience for idiot drunks. And while he wasn't a great interviewer by any stretch, I enjoyed his dialogue with co-hosts and people like Francis, Dowbiggen, etc.
He's an AM radio host, he's not supposed to be perfect. But he was engaging on-mic, at least in my memory lol

What I miss most about Richards is that he was a true sports guy not just a hockey guy. He covered a lot of CFL, NFL, Boxing, Golf, etc. The new morning show is pretty well hockey, hockey, hockey. Pat or someone was flipping out the other day that someone was talking Tennis. I'm not a huge fan but I catch the big tournaments and kind of find it offensive that a host of a sports show could dismiss spending a short moment out of the 99% hockey talking about tennis which is, you know a sport? The morning show under Richards had much, much better overall sports content.

As someone who's around the building a lot, I never cease to be amazed at Rob Kerr's knowledge of hockey. He's a really smart guy and he does his homework.

Guys can we tone down the personal attacks. Criticism of the media is fine but keep it to the work itself. It makes this site looks bad when people start personally attacking members of the media.

I almost don't want to bump this thread, but I've been listening to the afternoon show at work lately (especially for the draft and July 1), and it is getting pretty painful. They will probably lose me as a listener once the FA news dies down.
Brynn keeps throwing out bold statements, Steinberg calls him on it, and Brynn spends the next 5 minutes backtracking and rationalizing every possible side of the argument. Either have an opinion or don't - but it's getting tiring to hear him say so little while talking so much. I would love to hear Steinberg and just about anyone else...

Bryn is just painful to listen to. Amazed they picked the guy. Miss the Rob Kerr days for sure.
Bryn is painful at interviewing. He takes bizarre stances or tries to ride the fence. Just brings absolutely no insight to any broadcast at all. The only insight brought is when Pat has to correct Bryn's statements.
