Big upset today. Andy Roddick the defending champion is out. Lost to some guy from URGAY that nobody's heard of.

Similar to Ljubicic last week, Roddick loses 990 points!
Roddick will fall to #13.

Del Potro beats Soderling but then loses to FISH!

Which means there's nobody left in this half of the draw to beat Djokovic!

Quarterfinals

[1] Rafael Nadal (ESP)
[7] Tomas Berdych (CZE)

[3] Roger Federer (SWI)
[25] Gilles Simon (FRA)

[6] David Ferrer (ESP)
[14] Mardy Fish (USA)

Kevin Anderson (RSA)
[2] Novak Djokovic (SRB)

FYI Milos is doing the Mansbridge one on one interview show tomorrow night at 9:30 et. It's a pretty solid in depth personal look at the guests typically, I think it'll be interesting and am gonna pvr/tivo it.

CBC also puts the episodes up on their website as well:

http://www.cbc.ca/thenational/mansbridge/

The show is also an audio podcast on iTunes so we'll be able to download it there as well.

Another tournament win for Djokovic:

http://sports.yahoo.com/tennis/blog/...?urn=ten-wp321

He's now won 26 straight and has a lot of momentum going into the clay season.

Djokovic with an amazing year so far. He narrows the gap to #1.

Top 10
-------

1 Nadal, Rafael (ESP) 12,870
2 Djokovic, Novak (SRB) 9,700
3 Federer, Roger (SUI) 8,550
4 Murray, Andy (GBR) 5,545
5 Soderling, Robin (SWE) 5,420
6 Ferrer, David (ESP) 4,600
7 Berdych, Tomas (CZE) 3,900
8 Verdasco, Fernando (ESP) 2,925
9 Melzer, Jurgen (AUT) 2,660
10 Monfils, Gael (FRA) 2,600
.
.
.
35 Raonic, Milos (CAN) 1,173

------------------

Dancevic falls at the final qualifying hurdle yet again at the US Clay Court Championships in Houston. He picks up 6 ATP points. He's picking up these qualifying points every week and creeping up the rankings into the top 200 but he's missing great opportunities to get mucho points in main draws.

I finally got around to listening to the Mansbridge one on one interview. It was pretty interesting, Raonic talks quite a bit about his training routine, what it was like growing up in Canada playing tennis, and how he wants to help grow the sport here. If anyone has time I recommend it.

Thanks Matty81 for letting me know about it!

Djokovic and Soderling have pulled out of Monte Carlo.

The draw for the 56-man field will be conducted later today.

We'll see where Raonic goes.

It's a tough draw for Raonic

What a strange match..

Roanic defeats LLodra 6-3, 0-6, 6-0

He gets Gulbis next! Gulbis upset Dogopolov.

I'm really impressed with this win - not only beating another high ranked guy but also somebody who has 2 career clay tournament wins on his resume. Great to see.

You're right though, tough tough draw. Even though he got the upset Gulbis is ranked higher than Raonic too (although only a few spots this time @ 31st) and that match against Ferrer at the Aussie was epic - gonna be no easy matchups.

Awesome thing about this tournament though is that the field is smaller and points are doubled almost. Milos already picked up 45 points and 3-5 ranking spots just for making the 2nd round whereas it was only 25 for 2nd round at Indian Wells and Miami. If he can pull off another win now it will take him into the top 30.

Sorry for the crappy image quality. I only had my point and shoot with me as I wasn't sure what they would allow in.

Anyways, what an awesome way to spend a Sunday afternoon. This was my first live tennis match but I can confidently say the Monte Carlo Country Club is probably one of the best places to watch a game. The centre court situated right on the water is awesome. The match itself was entertaining but really weird. Also Milos has a cannon of a serve.

tennis players should not be allowed to wear the same coloured shirts.
they need home and away jerseys

also this is the first time i've seen Roanic not wear white.

Ha! That's a good point, I don't remember him in anything other then white either.

EDIT: Actually, I think I remember him wearing red one of the days during the Davis Cup against Mexico.

Is anyone else watching Raonic's match right now? I just saw Gulbis getting mad at the ump and then hitting the ball into the crowd. I had it on mute so I missed what exactly happened.
